human team vs agility teams

ok I'm playing in a league, and although my record isn't great 3 wins 3 losses, I can put the first 2 loses down to lack of practice (over 2 years without playig) but I do have trouble against higher agility teams as I caqn't limit their mobility as Ido against the lower agility teams.

my style is to te up players with linemen and then use my 4 blitzers to open gaps and stop threatening players...

should I try the cage aginst the higher agility teams, and please don't say just injure them as that does require good dice rolls...

Humans may need skills more than any other team. You have to take advantage of the ability to take Guard and Mighty Blow on your Blitzers, which will give you the edge on bashy-style play. Get a Dirty Player, too. If you can take one of his blitzer/wardancer types out, it makes the whole game go a lot easier, becasue while he may have a replacement player, it won't be nearly as good.

its not the specialist players I'm to fussed about, I seem to have trouble with just holding general players (i.e. ag4 linemen) in place and they're the ones hurting me, because they're dodging about and getting the ball etc, what can I try to do about that?

hello,

do not underestimate tackle as a skill it is very valuable against ag teams. every team should have at least three players with it, either to put on the LOS or to keep deep. this is why you always hear elven coaches moaning about playing dwarves or chaos dwarves...because they have plenty of tackle. i used to overlook tackle so much but now i always give it to players, even elves need it occasionally, and you will be surprised how many times a one is rolled while dodging.

edit: and as your lineman can only get access to general skills their progression for a few should be block then tackle (unless you roll a double of course). or if you already have a few with block give others tackle first.

Don't worry too much about man-marking elves. In general (i.e. while they have rerolls :)) rely on interlocking and ideally overlapping tackle zones to restrict their movement. Most coaches tend to implement this as the "cage" but other screening methods can be equally effective.

Ok, thanks for the points it wasn't for lack of tackle I have 2 tackle blitzers, he had one dodging player, it was the agility 4 no skill linemen that got me, they just did everyting.

Thanks for the advice Ian I'm definately going to use the over lapping zones and forget my usual man marking game! maybe I'll take a few leaves out of my Orc playbook...

Next up is hopefully the skaven team, they're the league leaders (haven't lost) with 14 players including rat ogre but I reckon if I can deal with the gutter runners, I can pull off an upset, any extra advise is welcome as a note I have 4 blitzers, 2 with tackle one of which also has mighty blow and the other which has pass block so think these will be key players for me!

If the AG4 Teams go to thair dodging it can be really painfull, when the whole Line is moving away and is rebuilding and maybe putting preshure on you. But when its going to the "needed" 2+ dodge thats the moment you are waiting for ;)
Just dont try to play elfish when playing against them, and never play bashing when playing against bashers, thats the way humans should be played I think.
