Skink using Side Step

I have a Lizardman team that is about 8 games into a league (fairly successful). I have a rookie Krox, 6 Saurus (one w/block, one w/Break Tackle, one w/Frenzy) and 7 skinks (some with sure feet, +MA, catch, DT). I had read online that side step was good for skinks so a few games ago, I gave it to a skink. I have never used it in any games after giving it to him. On offence, I always give the ball to a skink with sure feet and/or +MA to score the TD. On defence, I feild my side stepping skink and usually use him to mark opponent players that I want to tie down (catchers, goblins and such). Since this skink never uses side step, I'm starting to think it was a waste to give it to him.

How should I be using my side stepping skink to get maximum advantage of his skill?

Thanks.

Start giving him the ball for a start. he an use the sidelines with pretty much no fear of the crowd, unless your opponet is willing to use 5 players on him.
Secondly, give him Diving Tackle ASAP, as they will really bug people.

Behind my Block, Sure Hands, Side Step skink, the 2 players on mine that really pissed off the other coaches were the 2 DT,Side Step Skinks.

Never just use the same 2 or 3 Skinks to score, spread it around, because for all their skills, they will still go SPLAT sooner or later.

use him to mark players that don't have dodge or block...so they need to roll a pow to knock u down....

or put him on the line when kicking to teams that don't have block or tackle.....watch him move into opposing teams field

Or near the sidelines to suck people and set them up for your frenzied Saurus to push them out :D

I'll generally develop about half my skinks with SS and DT first. The others taking sure feet/sprint/catch. Then thats the defensive and offensive teams :D

I have 4 Skinks with sidestep. Pretty good thing. On both sides a skink with sidestep and a saurus, the other two in the defence, looks like

.....S.K.S.....
.xS.........Sx.
....xS...Sx....

(if you're in the defence, slightly different, if you're in the offence)

Well, it worked so far pretty good, all the fast guys trying to break through, think about gutterrunner... If they don't knock your skinks down, you always can fill the holes so that they have to dodge to get through. In combination with Diving Tackle for the two in the defence you can get your opponent to use rerolls very early. With sure hands later on for the deep two and catch / block for the offence two, maybe in combination with Guard for the two deep Sauri and Break Tackle for the lineup Sauri, you really have a hard match for any opponent.
(guess it's better to give them first sure hands for the deep, catch for the offence, but that's a matter of your dice)

Nice setup. Doesn't help much against leapers though.

One turner with leap... nothing helps. despite beeing the offence team in the beginning, open a hole with the sauri and blocking the leaper with a block skink. maybe taking another one to foul the leaping guy.
