I play in a small league (3 players) so to gee along our new teams we rolls 3 skills.
I am thinking of playing humans (other 2 teams are orc + dwarfs)
so it looks fairly bashy
My 3 skills are Normal skill x2 and +ag
For may team I am thinking
4 linemen
4 blitzers
1 catcher
1 thrower
i ogre
3 rr
3 ff
and on the skills
Ag for the catcher (or do you think thrower would be better)
and block on 2 linemen
what do folks rekon ?

I'd be thinking about AG on the Thrower but partly because I always manage to get my Catchers killed

He'll be pretty solid at throwing early on though and excellent with Accurate. Plus if you give him Block first he'll be handy at running along with the cage until he needs to break out and pass.
Kick is a good lineman skill, especially vs Dwarves and Orcs, I think i'd definately have a kicker.
Block on the other linemen is a good choice although i'd also consider Guard on a Blitzer or Block on a Catcher. Blitzers and Catchers do gain skills more quickly though.
You might also think about dropping the Ogre from the roster and starting with more FF (more cash later on) or a sub. The Ogre will be handy against the bash teams you'll play but so will a sub and extra cash will help buy an apoth, subs and the Ogre sooner after a few games.

For a skill definately guard on the ogre (if you decide to keep it), str 5 guard can really anchor a line or stop a running cage. Mainly because otherwise it might take a while to get the big lug a skill.

I think I'd make it
Kick lineman.
+1 ag thrower
Guard Ogre (if you keep him)
Block lineman (if you don't)
Best of luck.

You maybe take break tackle on the Ogre to use him as a cage breaker. This depends on how the other team are playing. Try to use your speed to win the games...

Have to agree with AG4 on thrower - you need to ensure he gets tyhe ball on your drive or you efforts just fall flat..I would then go for Sure Hands and Accurate to complete the set.
Guard on the Ogre is Ok for reasons mentioned but whenever you get the chance get block on him as with no RR this really helps out.
Kick is one of my favoiurites and is the best way of screwing with your opponents if they have a bashy team and all players on line up. The amount of times I have ran through the blood and mayhem and picked up the ball that was conveniently kicked to the side of the field I was geared up for ...Its just Ace!!

An Ag4 Thrower and two Guard Blitzers is what I'd pick. There's no point in trying to compete with regards to strength in general, but with the Guard Blitzers you can get a localised strength advantage that would allow your Humans a much easier time of things.

+ag for the thrower (self explaining)
guard for a blitzer (to have a mobile guard)
guard for the ogre (to have a los guard) / block for the catcher (to stay alive)
hmmm, regarding your opponents i get the feeling you don´t need that catcher... especially against the dwarfs he will not stay on the field...

Thanks for the advice now i'm unsure
I have definatley moved towards the +ag on the thrower he should become a thowing monster
I will give the other bits some thought esp the kick had forgot about that !!
Cheers
(any more advice -critics on the team sleection - much appreciated)

Ok final choice now made
Team stays the same
+Ag on the thrower (i have high hope for him longs as he stays alive)
Guard on the ogre - I prefer this to Block because it is passive
Kick on a lineman
Leaves me with less player with block than i would normally like but i think the advice is sound
Fisrt game this afternoon (against the dwarfs i think) so will let you know how it went

Block for the ogre would have needed a double

I think you'll find that getting guard on your blitzers will come easy (as long as you don't score all your TD with the catcher

)
I like guard on the Ogre for the fact that it will help draw more opponent's attention to him (and away from your other players.) Of course this plan isn't so good if his armor doesn't hold up.
And the next linemen that MVPs get him a completion right off for the block.
Best of luck.
