Ok you can decide the fate of my Hobgoblin. Much heated comedy tonight as I was convinced that sacking my hob was a good idea... most players thought i was mad.

So 190TR Chaos Dward team, St+1 hobo and Block skill; got hit but took another stat loss. ( 6 4 2 7) Hes only ag2 and now -1av too but could have apothed.... am I right to sack him or wrong, reasons please

Difficult to answer without knowing the STR of the rest of the team and how he fits in. If you have 16 players all in prime shape and lots of bonuses - you won't miss him. However if he's one of your few stars - you may be mad and a bit premature at sacking him!

Keep him, line fodder, especially if u can put him in between 2 guards.

i voted to keep him, but you probably are playing vault, so he adds 100 to your TR, so in lrb i'd let him die or niggle on the pitch, but in vault i might sack him because of the + 50 for strength.

He's not really a line fodder option. If he's a Hobgob with -1AV, he's down to AV6. If he gets smacked, chances are high his armour will be broken. You'll be down one player on the field, which will weaken your position.

In my opinion, line fodder can consist out of two types of players:
- high AV types of players, which can take a beating (Chaos Dwarfs, ...)
- least expensive type of players, because you don't have any high AV players (= Skaven Linerats, Wood Elfs Linemen, ...)

Your Hobgob does not fit into either category. If you keep him, definetely not as line fodder.

Still, ST4 always comes in handy on a bashy team. Get him Block and he will be OK, I guess.

I agree - LOS fodder for sure - str 4 low av he will always draw a few blocks leaving your other players slightly less pressured to enact the master plan (whatever that may be...)

keep him. every st4 guy is worth his money, especially for chaos dwarfs. don´t use him as line fodder.

Definately LOS fodder - keep him as long as he survives

I would keep him because he adds some more muscales to your game. But I wont use a apo on him Only if it is your last turn...

I wouldnt use it as linefodder though. I'd use it as the last defender. If anyone tried a sneaky run then he'll be able to swat them. AV6 means he isnt too well suited for the LOS, but being ST4 means that he can if he wants.

I think with him as your last line of defense you can put more emphasis on turning the ball over with your Bull Bentaurs.

ok my idea was with 6dwarf 2 bulls and maybe a big guy I cant afford any hob's to be only ag2 as i need them for the ball.

hmmm plenty of keep him as a punch-bag type ideas, but little yeah he is usefull...

Two Hobs are enough to cover the Ball, especially as Bull Centaurs are not out of the question for ball handling. I tend not to use them for this on offence but i've run away with them a few times on defence.

IIRC he's got Block too hasn't he?

Defietly keep him. Wouln't stick him on the line though (besides, which CD wants to give up his place on the LOS to a smelly hobgob? ;) ).

If he had a Nig as well, it might be a different question. I've seen quite a few players frustrated by large chunks of TR not showing up because of niggles. As long as he can play and doesn't have too many SPP keep him.
