Can't decide on a team

First of all sorry if this is in the wrong subforum this one seemed the most appropriate, my problem is I can't decide on a bb team.
Some info about me:
I play dwarfs in whfb(when I get arround to playing them).
I like painting my miniatures alot(w.o.w. I'm not a fan of the human models).
I'm patient
I have no problems with commiting fouls.
I'm planning to get one/two teams one for fun and one when I really want to win.
The teams I'm the most interested in:
Dwarfs
Chaos dwarfs
Skaven
Norse
Ogre
Now if you give an answer please give a reasoning like because they're good at x and with y...

Most BB teams are fairly even - so with the exception of the Ogres - all those teams are quite capable of winning games.
Dwarves, like in WFB, are slow, tough and steady. They are quite easy to play against inexperienced coaches because you are so damn tough. However as people get good Dwarves can be very very hard to play well. Slowness means you have to be able to anticipate your opponent's moves rather than react to them.
Chaos Dwarves have the same solid bed rock but then have cheap disposable Hobgoblins and strong fast Bull Centaurs to mix it up a bit. This tends to make them a strong team since they've a good balance of speed and strength. Their weakness is that they either rely on the vulnerable hobgoblins for ball handling or try to use the Bull Centaurs which tends to make them very hungry for rerolls.
Skaven - fast and lightly armoured. They'll die in droves but they are so damn quick around the pitch that they can exploit every mistake to the full. Gutter Runners are some of the best players available to any team. Out of all the ones you've listed they are the only "flair" team - i.e. ones that concentrate on moving the ball - so you probably ought to make them one of your teams.
Norse - hit hard but fragile. This can make them quite odd since you don't want to get hit, but you can hit back reasonably well. Average stat lines also mean moving the ball around isn't as easy as it is for them but they are better at it than Dwarves.
Ogres - are supposed to be a "fun" team rather than a competitive one. However in the long run (under LRB 4.0 rules) they can develop into a brutal murderous team. They are still very erractic. They have been changed in the experimental rules so if you do want to play them maybe wait another year before buying any models.

All good advice there.
Skaven and Chaos Dwarves also have high movement players that can make the game very forgiving for newer players.

How well do necromancers play?
From the info you've given me I'm doubting between
dwarfs and chaos dwarfs for my first team.
How usefull are some of the dwarven more "colourfull characters" like deathroller, grim ironyaw, flint churnblade ...

To be honest I always think that an orc side is the best way to learn the game - they need to block and should be the ideal side to learn 2d hits and basic formations. Very forgiving as they dont lack naything and have all 5 types of positional player - no other race does.
Hobby side also most available team in plastic, and warhammer has loads of options if you want a custom side. Real easy to paint too.
Maybe then after 10 games you should try a race more based on what tactics you like.
Maybe im talkinmg rubbish but I would argue most players have a style that suites them best with just a few teams. Even the great players tend to excell with some types, despite the fact they could use any race - ihmo.

Could be that I'm wrong here but don't you already got a team of humans and orcs when you buy the game?

Why is it that no one seems to want to play Halflings as there first team?
They Foul like there's no tommorrow
U don't have to care about players when blocking cos your opponent won't have as many players as you or they will be as strong as you
Can do a 1 turn TD
And can make your opponenets statagy go out the window cos you've got all his re-rolls

Hmmmm. My magic 8 ball seemed to like "Chaos Dwarfs" when I asked it. It was the only "Definitely Yes". Everything else was no's or maybes. Norse were " Outlook not so good". Good luck!

Yes, they are in the boxed set. Either are pretty good to learn the game with (IMO Humans are better to learn the game with since they have more of a passing game than the orcs - who a more a hitting team).

both humans and orcs are good teams to start with.
but within the teams you listed, the skavens are pretty different from the others... the question is : do you want to play a slow but strong team, or a very fast and good at ball-handling... but really weak team? if the latter, then go skavens, they are just what you need.
try also to take the team that you really like, from a background point of view.
If you hate elves, don't play them, even if you re good, because you won't have fun I think
but I think the most important is to try many different teams before buying one, cause in a few game, there are team that you ll realize definitely don't suit you.
that said, within the teams you listed, being a wfb dwarf player too, I always go for dwarfs when I have a chance to

For rookie players i'd say dwarfs and skaven are the best two teams to start off with for a particular style (although orcs are a better rounded side), as they both have all the skills you need for their style of play. Why not play a game with both. See which ones you like best. Other than that, you say you like painting, so choose the side with the best minatures. It's more fun when you like the minis. Chaos are quite hard to get started in a league, adn Chaos Dwarf and Norse are both better once you get to know the game.

IMO there is a big difference between a good team for a rookie to play - and one to learn with.
Humans are good to learn with because they have a little bit of everything but excel at nothing. You have to learn the odds of dodging, passing as well as bashing.
There are other teams that are better to play (i.e you'll win more games, or at least not get beaten as badly) but they don't necessarily teach you the fundamentals of the game so well.

Well from what I've seen from the game I like fouling,
I like the dwarf, cd, skaven and necro miniatures.
I'm a patient person so I don't mind having to wait long,
fouling seems fun.
I'dd like a strong and slow team to start with,
they also seem a little bit more forgiving,
when you make an error with some weaker creatures...
Btw to clarify a bit I'm already getting the orc and human team in the starter box, I'm looking for an additional team.
Where I live I won't have that much places to play it in rl so the painting aspect is important for me.
So I'm thinking bout the following : dwarf, cd, necro
If anyone who owns/has played against any of these teams could give me some more information I would apreciate it.
I'm looking for a fun team and for a team with wich I can win.

actuallly, dwarves are one of the most UNFORGIVING teams out there. If you make a mistake in positioning, it costs you the ball or a td. Double skulls or failed gfi's or failed ball pick ups really hurt dwarves because of their lack of recoverabilty.

If you are into painting and playing with greenstuff, then I would suggest you to play Amazon and get you figures from shadowforge. Thats some nice figures and you can use the same team as elfs if you like.
Dwarves are slow na d unforgiving as GKEN1 is writing, playing against a fast moving team could cause you a lot of problems, yet the tackle skill on your players are a big plus, takes the fun out of a dodge team.
In order for you to try both side of the game, bash and throw, then I would suggest dark elfs, they are not the best team for either but a few skills and you can turn them in the direction of your playing style.
