My Necro team is in need of help in my new league

Well folks I have completed my one league with the Necro team and have decided for prize and because the other coach was never there to split. So I won my league.

YAY

With that now out of the way, I have now entered the league again. This is done differently and I am in the "big boys league". I have a great deal of fear for my players with the teams that I have to play against.

Let me describe our league to you first.

We have three divisions, in each division there are 5 players. You play two games per week, and there 8 weeks. In weeks one, two, seven, and eight you have to play your division people. In the middle weeks you have off division games. Top 8 teams advance to playoffs best man wins.

Now here is my MAJOR problem. My division is the strong one, you know with the league's best players in it. Yea thats fun aint it?

I have

Myself (Necros)
2 Orc teams (one has so many ST increase players I am so screwed)
1 Chaos murder team (nearly everyone with claw, razorsharp claws)
1 Rookie halfling team ( you guys will enjoy hearing about my first game against them)

I have to play an Orc team, and the halfling team week 1, week 2 is the Chaos murder team, and the ST +1 million team. It is going to be horrible unless I can conjur up some magic inorder to beat these bastards.

The rest of the weeks and games I have to play I will update you on as I go.

Here is where I ask for help. I figure as Travler has set the trend to tell about his league process with his team I will as well. Mine more for help and advice, and the story purpose of course lol.

Game 1

Blitzrifters (me) TR 247 vs Halflings TR 100 (his)

I don't remember what happened on each turn but I will just say by turn 6 of the first half he had 0 players on the field, and at least 4 or 5 in the dead and injured box, including a treeman, the rest were in the knocked out box.

By the end of the game here is what happened, my team won 2-0 because Stupid MA 3 Flesh Golems, can't make go for its on turn 8 to get the 3-0 lead. The casualty count was pretty bad. It was 10-0 in my favor.

Let me just say I didn't take advantage of some poor rookie. He lost his developed wood elf roster, so he decided to just play flings for fun because they looked humorous to him and he doesn't care how many people die or what happens, he just wants to throw guys at other players, and use diving tackle to his advantage.

I just had fun and demolished the guy, my problem is my next game against an Orc team. I don't know what to do to defeat them. They are going to be HELL to beat because of their ST advantage over me. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hmm, I'd get me some new ones... MA4 is now standard on the GTI Turbo version of the Flesh Golem ;)

You have a gigantic speed advantage over the orcs, so forget about getting up your CAS count, and go for the ball handling and finesse plays.

The weres will get their share of KO/Cas anyway, just don't leave them in tacklezones, you have perfectly good 30k zombies for that.

Black Orcs can spend _weeks_ trying to get rid of a zombie (knock down -> stand up for 3 -> move back into base to base with the black orc), and if you can force him to dodge with blitzers (because they are b2b with FG's or zombies), he will quickly run out of rerolls.

Just don't get into a mid-field brawl, think of yourself as wood elves or skaven for this game.

orcs leave the pitch fairly easy if you FOUL them with dirty player.

Hopefully u have two of them :)

Foul with dp #1 in first half until ejected. 2nd half ....same thing.

same strategy vs chaos :)

Ofcourse... if he has 2 DP as well you might be in a spot of trouble ;)

That game is called 'Get their DP before he gets ours'

his players are less valuable for the most part.

fouling thickskull players really isn't in always a good foul.

Also Necro's whole game is protect the WW so he should be used to that.

so the only really nice fouls are ghouls and wights.

i'd trade black orcs, blitzers and claw beastmen/chaos warriors for wights and ghouls.

To each his own I guess :)

The main idea for me is to not get involved in a blocking war with these teams. Picking off players of your choice (i.e. the orc blitzers/usefully mutated chaos players) with a WW, then if they aren't gone already foul them, but always try to stay well away from the main battle with the ST4/claw/MB/etc players.

You have the movement for it, which is your main strength over chaos and orcs, so capitalize on that.

Well I have to use the speed advantage over them. I just don't want the zombie's dieing, especially 2 of them have hit third skill and doubled into guard. I think I will do as you said though and put thing in the way of my guys. As for the MA3 Flesh Golem, he aged into it. Current skills are block, and guard. With the next three games I have coming up I can't afford to replace him with a new guy, I need to keep my team as is in hope to rebuy any player that goes down hard. As for my ghouls I can't afford for them to get fouled, AG4 Ghoul, AG5 Ghoul, and AG4 Wight can't be fouled hard. They have to get away as soon as possible with their agility, and escape into save land. So that is exactly what I will try and do. Run away, and score more so they can't hurt me as badly

Did you raise these suckers from the Secret Elf Burial Grounds, or what?

Should be pretty easy to outmaneuver orcs with that team. Use your higher speed and agility to play a sidelines/frenzy game.
His +ST players vs your fans. That's the kind of matchups to win the game.

Well I played the game and fell flat on my face. I picked up only 7 SPP the entire game and 5/7 was the MVP.

Well here is how it went. I placed my players in a bundle and 3 sticks on the line. Well the strategy of put a player in front of the black orc's well that didn't work. I tried very hard on it but it didn't work. The first two turns my zombies went into Casualty land. So my field went down 2 men. Now I am playing with my guys. I try to run because he has a caged black orc with the ball I just try to survive. That didn't work to well. My one ghoul went out missing next game that was the AG4 ghoul. That isn't so bad I mean he is alive still. But I am down three players. 8 Against 11. A minute later my Flesh Golem gets fouled into the KO pile, and he doesn't come back for the entire game. He scores without a problem.

Half 2 down 1-0. Also down 2 players. But I have zombie replacements. So I am safe right? NAH of course not. I have now zombie's on the field out my ass. But that doesn't always work so well. Well especially not today. Within three turns two more zombie's are down and in the KO box. This puts me down to 9 men again. But back to the news, and sad it is. My Ghoul on steroids that got +2 AG, falls down, and then gets killed on a foul. Dead. He is gone now. May he rest in peace, again.

Well could have been worse. I lost the blodge AG5 ghoul, and the game. Plus a fan factor. It was a horrible game...until post game.

After the game I got a skill on a zombie. YAY. Since all of my zombie's have block already I expect the typical tackle. No he rolls a DOUBLE. YEAH ZOMBIE. Well now the choice I have is pretty simple. Guard without a doubt, right?

My roster looks as follows right now.

1) Zombie~Block, Guard
2) Zombie~Block, Dirty Player
3) Zombie~Block, Tackle, Guard
4) Zombie~Block
5) Zombie~Block, Tackle, Guard
Empty
7) Ghoul~Block, Sidestep, Surehands, AG4 (MNG)
8) Ghoul~Rebought
9) Flesh Golem~Block, Guard -1MA
10) Flesh Golem~Block, Guard, Mighty Blow
11) Werewolf~Block, Dodge, Sidestep, Stripball, Tackle
12) Werewolf~Block, Dodge, Sidestep, Tackle
13) Wight~Tackle, Stripball
14) Wight~Tackle, AG4
15) Zombie~Block
Empty

That is how the team looks. I figure I am going to do most of my play now by using the AG4 wight as the player with no fear. He dodges into tackle zones, picks up the ball, runs away, passes it to the AG4 ghoul, or a werewolf. blitzes in dodges out. Things like that is his job.. I figure not to hard for a wight.

I have the 2 hard games coming up next. With St alot Orcs, and a Chaos murder team. I think I can handle the chaos team actually. The claws will be a problem, but he won't reach my ghouls, and wolves. I also know that by having claws, razor sharp claws you don't have guard, and sometimes block. So I will utalize that. The Orcs I feel will give me more of a problem then the chaos. So all help is appreciated. [/b]

hehehehehe

After the last thread you posted up busting with confidence I find it amusing this has happened actually :)

Must be Nuffle bringing you back down to earth I think.

You seem to know what you need to do, I very much doubt any advice I'd pass on would add to anything you already know.

Good luck
