My cd roster for the Bubble turney, advice?

Hey guys,

One week to go before I enter my first ever tournament. Having played most my Bbowl matches on Fumbbl I have some trouble adapting my mindset and team lineup to the new setting  .

A quick peak at the variables:

TR 110 teams
1 normal skill picked before start of turney
1 skill normal picked after each match (doubles after round 3), 1 skill only per player
Non-progressive turney

So far my ideas are as follows........

Starting roster:

2 bulls = 260
5 dorfs = 350
4 hobgobs = 160
1 troll = 100 (I have no mino mini, so any mino suggestions can't be used)
3 rerolls = 210
2 ff = 20

I figure I need 12 players, but do I? I could replace the 5th dorf with a reroll, or exchange the troll and 1 ff for a reroll and a hobgob....

skillpicks, in order of games

0: Dirty Player on a hobgob
1: Sure hands on a hobgob
2: Break tackle on a Bull
3: Block on the other Bull
rest: Guard on dorfs

here I am pretty unsure. Do I want leader after game 3 and postpone the block? Should I take all guard on the dorfs and cage my *ss off?

Any tips or pointers you might have to help me out are welcome

Well, IMO you'll always want to take the full 6 CD blockers. They are solid and reliable. To pay for this I would drop the troll, troll is really only any good if you can give it guard. Which isn't allowed by the BUBBLE rules. Now you still have 40k left, drop 1 ff and get an apoth. I would move break tackle on the bull to first pick, break tackle is sooo important for bulls.

ps: I would suggest swapping the troll for a mino (doesn't need any skills to be effective), dropping a rr for the 6th blocker and using the double for leader but since you don't have a mino that isn't an option

See you in Utrecht next week!

If I were you I'd make a team with only hogoblins and some FF and Rerolls. If you have money left get some cheerleaders and assistent coaches! And don't forget the APO!

That will give a might interesting team and maybe we will play a game against each other!

Well, as it happens I do have some nicely painted cheerleaders with the team. I might even consider dropping a ff just have 1 on the sidelines:P

Oh, and if our game is against your soft hitting pussy Ogres the AV7 will be good enough 8)

Mmm. would 6 losing the trol not weaken the LoS too much? I always find that the cd's need some guards to actually hold the line. I will consider dropping the troll though. Hard decision since the paintjob on the mini is just so great........

As for the 1st skill: Can I afford NOT to take dp? I want to have a deterrent for when my opponents get the ref or are just basically fouljunkies.

Take DP if you want to foul people off the pitch, don't take it to stop other people from potentially fouling you (and besides, I'd fould that little AV 7 HobGob right from the start, as I would assume you were a 'fouljunkie').

Skills should be taken to achieve a goal in keeping with your style of play, not counting on what opponents might do.

Oh and BTW... fouling is only right and proper tactics in a tourney, people might debate the use of fouling in a league, but on a tournament you even get to cackle when you niggle his fifth player in a row ;)

You can always drop the re-roll for a chaos dwarf if you really want the troll, and then use the double for leader.

Foul deterrent??? The only foul deterrent I know of when a good player is down is turn 8 and I need to run in the TD so I can't risk a TO with fouling. (but then again I ended last tourney with 4 dirty players and once had a tourney game in which I had 7 skellies sent off) Seriously, if you take a dp (which is a good idea IMO) you should use it on any valuable opposing player that goes down, eye on your team or not. No-one will whine about it like on FUMBBL.

Right. Foul more.......... point taken..........

I suppose that with a 12 player roster I can always risk being send off without too many consequences.

That would also mean that whenever a Bull goes down he gets the boot.....

Might have to actually consider that apot idea then

Well.. up to a point... CD's aren't known for their great ability to play man-down, so be careful with random fouling. Wardancers and the like deserve every foul, but if you aren't already up in numbers on your opponent, it's usually not worth it to foul a lineman.

Oh yes...
