TR 100, short term league
I am going to be playing in a TR100 BB league soon. It is only 16 games long, and then 4 games of play offs including the finals. So winner plays 20 games. But the way my league normally progresses is perpetual. The players in my league are used to playing like Orcs, or Chaos, and dominating after building them up some. Then they dominatem using a Chaos murder team, or a TR 200 Orc team. I know for a fact the players that are top ranked in my league won't be able to compete with how playing for the short term goes. There are a few that will know what to do and those will be my real tough opponents, them and Orcs. I was thinking though who do I use as my team? I am used to a bash game, but I am also used to gaining skills slowly. For those of you that have paid attention recently to my human tactic thread then you would see that I have been enjoying the fact I can earn skills with so many players so quickly. It is a good feeling to get up to TR 145 in only 4 games, especially when losing 2/4.
I was thinking in terms of good short term playing teams. Our house dwarf player will probably use them and be a very hard opponent with all that block, tackle business, but his skill is lacking and he probably won't do very well. Our Chaos lovers will die due to the fact that our currently best Chaos player said to me "The first league you play with them you suck, and get beat up every game. You lose all the time, until you get skills, the you are a powerhouse" He is right, and out of the teams I have seen there are only a few good choices to go with. I came up with these solutions and some pros/cons to them:
Amazons:
Pros: All have average stats, everyone starts with dodge, and can all blodge on 6SPP making them incredible against all except dwarves.
Cons: Everyone has AV7, and they can be killed if someone has tackle. They will lose in the long, and if teams have tackle they will fall
Norse:
Pros: Everyone has average stats, and block. Their blitzers are crazy, and they have access to a Big Guy.
Cons: Everyone has AV7, and they can be killed after a short while. Once other teams get block they can easily win and over power you due to the fact the Norse are good at hitting early on.
Wood Elves:
Pros: Their movement is disgustinly high, and they are all AG4. Wardancers are argueably the best player in the game, and their catchers are 1 MA+ away from becomin OTS.
Cons: They all have AV7, they are quite expensive, and they die. Catchers are only ST2
Out of that my fav is by far the welves. Do you think I can win a league with woodies like this?

First of all I think 16 + 4 games is not a short league. So you can suffer from AV7 a lot. And I agree with Chaos will not perfom well. But I think Orcs could be a pain.
Is it a open league? I think if there are a few Necros around with their claws they could hurt AV7 a lot. I would consider Pro Elfs and High elfs as well. Because they can take a little more.

That's a long league compared to my local. 6 regular season games and then 4 teams make the finals based on points. Since it's an ultra short league I"m going to play Pro Elves due to the sidestep nastiness and the str 3 8 mv catchers. I figure in a league this short if I can get one or two players built up decently I might have a shot at making the finals.

There will be one Necro player, he is using my Necro pieces, and I have used Necros for about 4 leagues I know how they opperate. This is short term becasue this time I am playing for the present, and not the future, a lot of guys are playing fot the short run. We are used to perpetual where we use old teams. Most guys in there are in the 200's and we have chaos madness. So one guy is using zons, maybe 2 guys.
After consideration I came to a great team potential.
Dwarves. They all start good, they come stocked, and can tear down any team in this type of league where we all start TR 100. The dwarves can destroy an Amazon team early on with the block/tackle aspect of the team. Also a team will have difficulty winning against them due to their stats. Granted it won't be easy gaining skills with many players but they can beat anyone. They can go toe-to-toe with Orcs, and win the block war (especially early on, when everyone is blockless and I am not), they can't catch elves but they tackle them and block them down, and with proper placement they are untouchable. Big guys die like anyone when using a Troll Slayer. I think they can be very powerful.
The only teams I know for sure thus far are
Chaos Dwarves, and 2x-Amazons.
Dwarves can out bash the CD's, and kill the zons.
They are my new favorite for use, also since the league is running where at the end if I like my roster I can use it in a perpetual league, they dont just evaporate.
My other choice is humans because of diversity, butthe dwarf aspect looks very nice
