Do you really need tactics or can you just go and grab the win with pure luck? Does tactics kill the fun? Or is playing without tactics just mindless battering?

Don't take this poll TOO seriously ;)

I Have two tactics for my Team

tactic 1: if there's a Player on the Floor FOUL THEM get as many halflings around the guy as it is possible to do without standing next to an opposing player and do the Deed

Tactic 2: Get the Ball to the Halfling with Flying Goggles thats standing next to the Treeman and watch the Catapult go

Given the same person won GenCon two years in a row and it would have most likely been 3 were it not for Saurus rolling a 6 to catch a bouncing ball. My guess is that yeah .... tactics are pretty important.

then again your example also shows that being screwed by the dice can Duck up any tactics...

true, but giving up on strategy simply because "the dice will screw you anyhow" is foolish. Part of the strategy of the game is choosing when to roll and increasing your odds of rolling successfully when you do. Yeah, sometimes the dice wont go your way. but it doesnt mean you should run your players around the pitch willy-nilly.

And is it me, or are options 1 & 3 the same thing?

If tactics didn't matter then the rookie plaers would win as much as the veterns.

Luck matters.. experience and good tactics manages that luck.

Bad dice screw good tactics but good dice usually don't save bad tactics.

so tactics is important.

Yup, but bad dices come more often than good dices, at least in crucial situations

Good tactics can amend the damage bad dice cause to your game plan.

Tactics is all about skewing luck to your favor. Sure you cant help it if the opponent keeps rolling 6's or yourself rolling 1's... but in the long run statistics should favor you if you play well.

I don't care about the win as much as most do. Most of all, I want the matches to be fun. If there is something I really hate, is a slow player who plays Blood Bowl as a strategy game. It usually ends up to be boring.

I don't think too much about the tactics. I've noticed, however, that if you move players which don't include any rolling first, it makes a huge difference. The dice will screw any meticulous tactics anyhow. I seem to win much more often than I lose, so can't complain.

Viva entertainment, down slow strategic approach ;)

But unfortunately, as you so accuately point out, no matter how skilled you are, luck trumps it.

Tatics are great, but if your opponent is lucky......not much you can do.
