-ST Gutter Runner, what to do with him

Just started a new season in our league, 20 games including playoffs. Played my second game last night with Skaven. Won both games.
Our league consists of Skaven (me), Elves, High Elves, Humans and Amazons, so 5 teams total.
I have:
2 GRs
2 SVs
1 Thrower
6 Linrats (one of which will miss the next game)
One of my GRs has Very Long Legs already (rolled doubles after the first game). He gained a second skill last night, a normal roll, but he aged with a -ST result. Ouch. Oh well.
And I now have 90000gp in the bank.
Now, what do I do with him?
Any suggestions as to what to do, especially with my -ST Gutter Runner?
My current thoughts are:
1) Keep the -ST GR until I have a full roster (at least of GRs), and then retire him. This would mean that I have to make sure that he doesn't get other SPPs.
2) Give him block for his latest skill roll. I could give him sprint and turn him into my emergency one time scorer as well, but then he would get SPPs and make it more difficult for me to retire.
3) Buy another GR with my treasury. Risky, as for my next game (against Humans, 3 or 4 Blitzers and an Ogre) I will only be able to field 11 players, including 3 GRs, including the -ST GR. Considering if I should buy another Linerat instead.
Thoughts?

Keep him GR's are not meant for blocking anyway and after all he can still assist a block and pass ball off to anotherr GR to score!! with a light roster I would bdefinately keep him!!

Strenght 1 GRs (esp. with Block) are more durable than they look at first glance. Get an apo and some extra players before you retire him.

You could give him sprint and turn him into a 1 turner... Hard to lose with a 1 turner. You'd never need his str.

i would advise against turning him into an OTS, since you really dont want to rely on an ST1 player... and as you said, you dont want him to be an spp soak if you're likely just going to retire him down the line anyway. I would buy another GR and use this one only as backup... helping make a wall to protect the ballcarrier, lending assists where he can, etc. Keep the spp off of him and get your team to a point where you can safely retire him, would be my suggestion.

I'd recommend that your league ditched aging TBH...

A ST1 GR soacking up your SPP isn't that bad. He's a big threat and will therefore die eventually, giving your other players a chance to stay alive as your opponent focusses on eliminating that ST1 GR. Use him as a decoy, a permanent threat but only utilise him in case of emergency. If you place two GRs in scoring position your opponent will try to blitz him out rather than the other GR who needs the SPP. Block would be useful to him as it will mean he stands a bigger chance of being a pain in the ass in your next match.

Well, since you don't have a full roster yet, there's no urge to fire that poor bastard. You can use him anyway, just consider him a player you don't fear to lose. You can fire him once you'll want to lower your TR, but until then it can be of some use.

What about giving him dirty player? MA9 would have quite the reach ...

I would certainly make him an OTS.
Sprint and then Sure Feet.
But only OTS when neccessary. (turn 8 of the half)
Even if he soaks up loads of spp some-how the GR will still be -1 ST. And if he's "worth" keeping around at 2 or 3 skills with -1 ST, then why wouldn't he be worth it now when he costs less? So the argument about him gaining spp to make him un-cuttable is a little weak to me.
Dirty player on a 10 moving 4 ag piece is a rather frightening thought...I would go with OTS and spend most time in the reserve box....
And I wouldn't take block due to the vast numbers of dice they'll be throwing at him...
Just name him "Lightning" Rod Rat and him to draw the blitzes ....
Then, when you have 4 GR, and want to lower TR I'd cut him.

I agree with Thadrin, ditch the ageing.

When we first started up BB again and read the LRB 4 rules, we read the Aging rules and immediately house ruled them out.
Luckily when the switch to PBBL becomes they'll be gooooooooone

Thanks for all the replies.
When our league started again this fall I meant to suggest removing ageing as it is not really necessary in our league (just 20 games), but I forgot.
Oh well.
I think I like the OTS route. Once I get more players (if I get more players

) then I'll use him solely for turn 8 TDs.

I'm not saying you can't use him "normally" as well. But I certainly would not reccommend the OTS on any turn but turn 8.
(Too many rats on the line too often.)
The way I try to play is to deny shots at my gutter runners anyway - so a ST bust for me, isn't as big a deal...
Best of luck.
