Rookie Pro Elf Catcher getting Dump-Off

Post by el sid »

On a rookie Pro Elf team, my Catcher rolled a double 1. I was thinking of giving it Dump-Off. She would be my main ball receiver, fit in a loose cage after having penetrated my opponent's line. If my opponent decides to Blitz my ball carrier, I use Dump-Off and toss the ball to an adjacent Elf player.

Seems like a tight plan. What do you think about it? Any experience with Dump-Off?

Very strange I never used this skill on my Gutter Runners? I'm used to playing Skaven, and I never used the skill Dump-Off on them. While when you think about it, it really makes for a killer combo with fast, agile Catchers.

A very solid tactic, and one that works better the more Dump Off catchers you can get. Dump-Off dovetails so well with NoS btw, which is why it is a prime Pro Elf tactic.

GR have Mutations access, so they have a very wide choice of skills for doubles rolls. Horns for example, or VLL. They also don't start with NoS as mentioned above, so it would require another double on one GR at least to unlock the full power of the Dump Off.

P.S. Take it. Then give him the ball. Then run your other catchers within range. You now have the best possible running game to go with your (presumably pretty good) throwing game.

Cheers

i did this with one of my catchers - fantastic player, especially if you develop him with block+sidestep as nice defensive skills.

i found that with my team, the key to success is surprise. think up tactics+plays which will catch your opponent with his pants down

some examples from my team are:

2x linemen with tackle+diving tackle...if they develop further will get them pass block, to close down recievers.

1 catcher recieved ag5, so along with pass block and leap....i won my local league using this in the final.

blitzers +some catchers with sidestep.
a smattering of jump up

S4 blitzer (best player on the team)

and finally a catcher with dump off.

all these guys (and a supporting cast of linemen with block/ag5/guard etc) if used effectively can make your opponent think twice about attacking you!
in conclusion dump-off is ace. get it. use it. savour it.

One more guy to agree...

Coming back to the above comments, a gutter runner indeed needs to roll a second double to have an effective dump-off game and match the future success of your pro-elf catcher.

If another of your catcher gets a double, do give him dump off too or it will be too easy for your opponent to neutralize your tactic.

Positive replies all over. So I'll go with Dump-Off.

In about one week, I'll play my next game against a Lizardmen team. I'm looking forward to try this skill out.

Thanks for the advice,

El Sid

Yeah I played against one of those +AG, Leap, PassBlock Blodging monstrosities! The player was nigh on impossible to stop, and I had no tackle :o   my wardancers are developing slowly!

I might try developing a few linos with tackle/diving tackle, sounds interesting
