against Undead in the finals

Post by habasta »

Hy,
I´m playing with my Highelf- Team ( no loss this Season ) against an undead team.
5 Zombies
3 Skel.
3 Ghoul
2 Wights
2 Mummies
And he will buy Count Luthor for the game.
I think about Thrud for this game. With count Luthor he has 3 player with ST 5. I have a dragonwarrior with ST 4. This would be the first target for them.
Thrud has ST 6 and in the first half i want to knock very much of the Undead ( multiple block ) as i can. And then in turn 7 to foul, so that Thrud is off the field and can´t play for the undead.
What do you think?
Now i have already two lionwarrior. One is my best player with 13 TD´s.

Help me if you can.

After that game there ist the final.
I want to go in this final. I have no loss in 8 games. So it would be very... if i couldn´t play there.

I think your money will be better spent hiring a wizard instead of Thrudd. You shouldn't try to outbash him, you should just try to outscore him. Use the wizard on his ball carrier when you see an opportunity to pick up the ball and set up a scoring play.

If undead player have a first ball, Luthor can score in few turns and then u can find yourself facing Thrud + 3 ST5 players....

I would prefer wizard (and if u can afford it) prince moronion...

i agree with the rest. Don't buy Thrudd. I would only buy him if you have no other options. (i like him against Dwarves a lot).

Try to play your own game. Outscore him. If anything; eliminate his scoring-guys. DON't go into the hitting game....play elf :-)
A wizard seems like a decent plan. perhaps some freebooters for on the LoS?

I agree with the rest that a wizard is appropriate. The problem with Thrud on an elf team is that you want to score lots, and Thrud might change sides if you do.

Also casualties are fairly random in general( I always get them when I don't expect them) - Thrud might not make a dent in a couple of mummies with regen, just tie them up for a bit.

A wizard is perfect for getting the game to be played your way. A perfectly timed fireball on an undead cage is a game winner.

The problem with the fireball is, that the undead player is not a typical undead player. He makes no cages. He plays with the undead like human. No cage take the ball with one of his three ghouls and pass the ball to one of the other ghouls. What do you think of lightning ( ? ).

If you make your set up in such a way that pushes his receivers out into the wings then zap with a lightning bolt, this give him an extra something to think about. And hey, passing undead teams should really make mistakes in the long run :)

If he doesn't cage, he should be easier to beat. Running ghouls into your half is a recipe for disaster (for him). The ghouls only have AV 7 and no regenerate, so all you need to do is get a couple of Block, Tacklers & hit them repeatedly until they break. I just finished a game against undead (I am vampire) & I ended up killing his Pass, accurate ghoul. They are the teams weakest players, so if he wants to run them into your half all alone- let him.

As an Undead player, the only way he can win is by breaking your team with the Mummies. He doesn't stand a chance to match you goal for goal since you have AG & MV in spades.

A passing Undead team? What the hell? There shouldn't be much to worry about then, he just doesn't use his main strength, don't miss that chance.

As trob said, AG 7 is quite easy to break (you should know that) and on the passing/running game you beat him all the way. Just think about it dude ... you have a couple of zombies that want to match your elves at scoring touchdowns

I have won that game. We played last Weekend. It took a lot of time to play this game. We want to play in Oktober.
He had problems to take the Ball and my lionwarrior with MA 9 and sprint took the ball and 1:0 for me.
Prince Moranion was a good choice, he was always in the near of Count Luthor and my lions won the game. 4 TD from my two guys.
4:1 for me and no CAS. Wow.
In the final there were a skaven team. With Hakflem, damned guy.2 nd turn 0:1. 3rd turn Blitz!!. He failed the go for it, death with Hakflem. And the Ratogre went to K.O. box.
3:1 victory for me.
Thatks a lot for helping me.
No game loss this year.
