Wardancer getting +1 AG as a first skill

Post by Coach Alex »

Yup, happened to me and since it's a gift from nuffle I couldn't expect, I don't want to screw up on his next skills :P

I have some ideas, but I would really like some advice ...

(you have to take in consideration my league includes Khemri, Orc, Dwarf, Chaos Dwarf, Necromancer, High Elf and Skaven, 5 strength teams out of 7 opponents)

- I always liked sidestep, especially on blodging players that can be a real thread if pushed in the wrong direction.

- NoS and/or sure hands and/or pro to make him able to retrieve the ball in any messy situation?

- Sure feet (+sprint?) to give him more range for annoying the opponent?

I already have a WD with stripball and tackle would just be a waste of time as only the High Elves have access to dodge (and the four GRs ... and the gobbos). Dauntless or mighty blow on double wouldn't be that smart ... as it makes him only a bigger annoyance/bigger target plus it would somehow lower the value of his AG5. Seriously, I don't know what I'd pick ...

I'm limited to theory atm, but NoS would make the ultimate "can do" player imo.

Is this a Vault league, or LRB one?
I ask as NoS is a Trait under LRB.

Sidestep, Sure Feet or Nerves of Steel all seem perfect skills for him.

I would concider guard if you manage to roll doubles. Leaping on a cage on 2+ to assist the strip ball wardancer who leaps in for a blitz...Scary.

Sure Hands would make him an ultimate ball retriever, given he can dodge or leap his way into middle of things with his AG5.

i would not give him NoS in some ways it's a bt of a waste as you'll beabel to dodge into a tackle zone on a 2+, the same for picking the ball up in a tackle zone also. Doubles go for jump up, on a single i'd say sure hands or strip ball

Ehm Guys ?!
What about strip ball?
The greatest risk of breaking cages is leaping in there, and with that risk reduced with the AG increase, strip ball is the best follow up IMHO.

Stripball, even considering I already have a wardancer with the skill?

I thought about using the AG5 one to retrieve the ball after the other WD pushed it out of the cage. NoS was mostly for throwing the ball to a catcher close enough to the TD zone so I wouldn't have to fear for my WDs beeing so close to the cage ...

But on second thought, it's right that NoS wouldn't be that usefull, since it wastes a double and won't be that helpful, at least not as much as Sure hands would do ...

Even with a a leaping Blodger, 1 Strip Ball may not be enough. With 2 you really close the field. Especially with AG5. Go for Strip Ball

I definitely think NoS would be a waste if you want to use him to get the ball away from the cage after his buddy strips it out.

With AG5, you can already essentially "ignore" the 1st TZ for the pass. If there are more than that, leap/dodge away and THEN throw.

I would take sidestep honestly. a player that is that important, and is simultaneously going to put himself directly into harms way a lot, could really benefit from not getting pummeled any more than absolutely necessary.

So far I tend agree with wes ... and I love the skill anyway. As a third pick I'd probably take sure hands ... but once I'll be there I'll probably already know what suits him best ...

To be honest NOS combined with sure hands has it's charm, not to get the ball, but to leap in and pass it out of the cage after the dauntless/strip ball WD and the guard lineman gets it out of there.

I'd take sure hands or nos on a double, sidestep later.

NoS is a Passing skill in the Vault. So either way it's doubles only for a Wardancer anyhow.

I'd say Side Step, maybe Guard on Doubles. Let the other Wardancer become the Tackle, Strip Ball guy.
