I am trying desperately to try and develop Lizardmen. The major problem I get into is how to protect my skinks. Obviously all my opponents try to get them of the pitch, and usually they succeed all to well.
How can I keep my skinks save, on offense as well as defense? Apart from the straightforward getting all 6 Sauri and the Krox so that I have to field only 4 of them (and keeping 2 in reserve, of course).
My current team has 5 Sauri and 6 Skinks and an Apo. 2 of my skinks have Catch, I am planning to get some Sidesteppers next.
Thanks for any advice!

pray for doubles to get block!
I think you are right in planning on getting side step next. Side step will help you in choosing where you get pushed, avoiding getting getting hit by a follow on block. Of the skill options avaiable, there is not mich coice for survivability

Well, I must say there is a different way of getting your skinks to stay alive for the first few matches. On fumbbl I started a team with a krox, 6 sauri and 4 skinks (1 reroll, 9 FF). With some luck and just a lot of plain old muscle I can keep them out of trouble by putting the sauri and krox in front of every player. The krox can tie up even more players because of his prehensive tail. After 3 matches I have bought my second reroll so I'll be ok from now on.

The key really is to have the maximum number of Saurus and Krox on the pitch. With only 5 Saurus, I can understand why you are struggling. IMO it is a case of giving your opponent reason not to blitz a Skink ... hide a couple, put the rest on the margins of your drive. If they waste a blitz on a Skink, at least that should give you the advantage in terms of winning the drive.

Just started playing Lizzards myself on Fumbbl. http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team& ... _id=196144
Though the casualty stats willl show you that I have also been very lucky
here's how I protect the skinks.
Obviously make sure that blitzing a skink when kicking is out of the question, either by setting up deep defense or by screening them with sauri (need 1 more saurus or the krox to do this reliably though).
If you don't have a blitz that is essential from a positional point of view, blitz opposing tacklers every turn (disclaimer, will not work very well against (c) dorfs).
Sacrifice a goat or an elf to Nuffle before every game. Works for me!

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.

I started with the 6 saurus, Krox roster. skinks die alot, especially at the higher ratings. Sidestep increases their survivability alot.

is my lizzy team.
you got to target opposing teams tackle players with a vengence. tackle/mighty blows deserve fouls .....even a KO or stun is worth it.
