Goblin team for the 44th Bloodbowl

Ok guys and girls, I have decided its about time that I hauled my butt to a Bloodbowl tourney and, since I spend most of my days in nottingham, the 44th Bloodbowl seemed like a logical choice.
As it will be my first BB event I have a couple of questions and would like some advice on team selection/dev if you can spare the time.....
1. How competetive is it there, am I likely to be pounded into the table then spat on and laughed at or are is it slightly more lighthearted than that?
2. How strictly is the 4min rule observed. We don't tend to use this in our club and thus I am not used to it. Our games tend to finish within 2hrs its just that some turns take 1 min, some take 7 or 8. Will ther be chess clocks involved or some other method of timekeeping?
So, as to my team; I felt the following looked like a good idea. I chose goblins as it runs with a cracking modelling/painting project I want to do. As far as gaming goes I am hoping to sink to the lower tables and just have a stonking good time of it, and sinking a few pints on the way!
My starting team:-
2 Trolls 200k
11 Goblins 440k
Nobla blackwart 160k (cost doubled as its the BB)
3 Re-rolls 180k
2 FanFactor 20k
1,000,000gps total
What do you guys think; reasonable, bad, terrible?
Also, how would you skill this team up?
Thanks for reading
Jimmy

Ignoring the team selection;
1. It can get quite competitive at the top I suppose, but basically for most of us it's just a big social beano, drinking in Bugman's and laughing about 'how you would have won if only your opponents mummy hadn't intercepted' and suchlike... so yeah plenty of lightheartedness.. it's what you make it..
2. 4 min rule? Not strictly enforced, but they will call the game at 2 hours, you and your opponent are supposed to be responsible to get the game done in that time between you... I'd just play a few games beforehand at a fairly brisk pace.. if you do get a really slow opponent just kick him in the shins every now and then...

Excellent (on both counts), that is what I was hoping for, as a fairly rookie goblin coach I don't expect to be anywhere near the competetive end of things!
One more question for you guys, are there pictures of the best painted teams from previous years anywhere? I always like a look at well painted figs!

It's nice to see someone taking a Goblin team to the Blood Bowl. I did it in 03 and had a lot of fun, despite being stomped into the dirt (but in a good way)!
Your team is virtually the same as the one I chose, except on the choice of Star Player. Nobbla is good for threatening your opponent's players, but you might want to consider Bomber's greater flexibility. Not only can he make a mess of your opponents players, he can also throw the ball pretty well (
Accurate and a lack of
Stunty). A Chainsaw wielding maniac is pretty scary, though... I guess the deciding factor is your style of play.
Skillwise, you can't really go wrong with
Side Step for your Goblins. As for the Trolls, I'm not too sure...
Guard might be something to think about, but it might be better to give all the skills to the Gobbos, as the Trolls are a tad too unreliable...
Well anyway, let me wish you good luck way in advance. With any luck I'll be at the Blood Bowl myself and I might might decide to bring my Gobbos as well... It's either them or a Necromantic team. Choices, choices!

Cheers Elfhater. Hope to see you there

Sounds good, except o'course if thats your only chioces it'll be the gobbos. The necros aren't on the list of allowed teams AFAIK.

They will be - they've still got the wrong pdf up on the site. The one up now is the one they posted prior to the BB last year, and they had to issue an addmendment because the pack points towards LRB 3.0, but it was actually using all the rules from LRB 4.0.
Just so it's clear, in case anyone else gets the wrong idea, having spoken to Brian at GW Events, ALL teams from LRB 4.0 are allowed in the BB in 2006.

Ah cool,
I forgot the golden rule of never trusting anything on the GW site- EVER!
Does anyone know if you get a master chef with all the ingredients and bits as your head coach if you take a fling team?

Yes, the head coach for a fling team IS the Master Chef by default, now. you automagically get 1 chef roll every game, and for every 20k you spend pregame get another chef roll on top of the automatic roll.

I was wondering why I kept getting kicked during games!

For a moment I thought you meant your opponents mother...
