Norse or Necromantic....

The new Norse roster (LR 1.11 looks sweet) as does the necromantic line-up.

Anyone have experience with norse or necromantic at a tournament or league?

Norse! I play them in PBeM and like em a lot. Especially the faster runner with dauntless adds a lot to the team IMO.

Do prefer the PBBL Norse to the LRB one.

What style of gaming are you more likely to be doing though? Short-term league, long-term league or tournament?

More information needed. I play both teams and like them alot.

The main consideration is how many games are you playing and LRB or PBBL? Given this league is starting soon, I guess LRB hence these comments ar eon that basis.
Norse are great for a 10 game season with so much block but after 8 games or so the best of the other races starts to come out and your main (only?) advantage starts to dissapear fairly quickly.

If you are playing Necro, they are a bit weak early on, your Wolves are vulnerable but give them 8 games into a 16 game season one if not both can be blodging. The Golems will probably pick up thier fair share of CAS over 12-16 games and they become block/guard. With the ghouls getting block and Surehands and kick/dirty player/block/tackle amoung the Zombies they can be a real force- BUT over 16 games or so.

If you only intend to get 8-10 games in, Norse above Necro for me - there is not enough time for Necro to develop if you lose a wolf (no regen or apo) or even a Golem. Norse can survive a death or two with 50K block lineman.

If you are PBBL'ing the league then both benefit IMO compared to some of the other 19 races. Personally, they will both be handy but again - how long your league is becomes the crucial consideration.

since we're going to use the new lrb 1.11 rules, my werewolves would have regenerate...(not so good as an apo, but still..). Norse will also be making a big change, and i like the new roster...A LOT.

However, since our league will be around 10-12 games and since you suggested norse are better for the short haul, i think they will also do better for tourneys..no?

Yep. Over 10-12 games Norse would be my fav. 12 games is just on the breaker.... as I say above, 8 games in and you can have a very nice Necro team and the key positionals will attract your SPP accumilation from TDs and CAS. Regen on the wolves is also very handy.
BUT - in a 12 game season such as I play in the ECBBL, you lose a Golem or a Wolf in the first few games......well, you have a problem. Thats not a lot of games to get the money up to replace the 120K key players.

But I agree, the new Norse line up looks interesting - especially compared to some of the other races in the PBBL. With Undead changing significantly and one or two others, the new Norse roster is one I too am keen to try. Prices of big guys going up and some other tweaks across all the races means those 50k lineman with block are going to so valuable to you.

In short term (especially using manual MVP distribution) norse is the better choice. in 2-3 games you will have 2 block, frenzy 6428 ulfwereners, and with catchers MV7 you have some speed too.
Necros are longer term teams, and even with regen the two wolves are heavy attacked (in my first match one of my wolf was only 2 turn on the pitch from the 16) and their loss can hurt your treasury.

I'm rather new to this forum and this is my first post. I searched quite a while and I think this might be the best subject.

We are starting a new league under the PBBL 1.11 with approx. 10-12 games before playoffs and both teams are going to be in this league.

As both teams have been intensivly revised I couldn't find a setup post for them.

I go with my necros:

1 WW
2 FG
2 Wights
6 Zombies
3 RR
3 FF (or 2 FF and 1 Cheerleader as I like the model)

The norse coach is thinking about the following rosters:

7 Linemen
1 Thrower
1 Runner
2 Ulfwerener
3 RR
4 FF

or

7 Linemen
1 Thrower
1 Runner
1 Berserker
1 Snowtroll
3 RR
3 FF

or

7 Linemen
1 Thrower
1 Runner
2 Berserker
4 RR
2 FF


He currently prefers the last setup.

What do you guys think about those lineups. Thanks for help in advance.
