Lizardmen against Dwarves

Starting a new league with a lizardteam (4 saurus and 7 skinks) and got unlucky in the draw, first game against dwarves. Any suggestions how to survive this? The opponent has 6 longbeards, so my skinks are bound to get injured/knocked out at some point of the game.

Try to hide from th long beads and leave them only one block each turn so they have to blitz your players. Hope that you don't roll so much both down results when throw the block dices. Try to use your higher strenght to hold the dwarfs away.

Will do, thanks. Any suggestions how to field the team, all 4 saurii on the line to maximize the str advantage?

Depends on the number of slayer he has! 4 people on the line is a risk with one assist he gets one dice and with block he has some good chances of getting your skink protection down. I only would field the minimum number of players on the line...

ok, he's got 2 slayers, so I'll keep one saurus in the backfield then.

By spreading out the skinks all of the time, you can at least force him to play very un-dwarfy to go skinkhunting.

If you're receiving, hang back and make him come forward. If he's skink-hunting, lure him to one side of the pitch, then loop around his massed players. You've got speed and mad stunty dodge skills, so use those Sauruses for a buffer between the Dwarves and the skinks, and just zip around the mean motorscooter.

Update, I manage to scrape through and won the game 1-0. The 4 saurii managed to tie up pretty much the whole of the dwarf team. Got really lucky though in the fifth turn where I manage to kill(!) one of the slayers with a saurus.

Good job. The only good dwarf is a dead dwarf. How did you prevent him from caging?

Again, got pretty lucky, a blizzard appeared in the swamp when he received and he failed to pick the ball up twice and did not have adequate cover so one of my skinks nicked the ball and walzed in for a td.
Was maybe a bit too careful later on trying to protect my skinks when I received and stalled (sorry) for most of the second half.
On the downside, one of my Saurii got SI so I only have three for the next game, against high elves.

Last week I had the chance to play a couple of games with a Lizard team (vs Skaven and vs Orc), and I was amased by the flaxibility the skinks can put into that team.
Tha first game (vs skaven) was a bit of a nightmare for me as near the end of the first half those damn lucky skaven had killed both my kroxigor and a saurus...
The other side of the coin is that I menaged to out-manouver (sp?) the skaven and actualy end the first half winning by 1-0.
On the second half I was defending, but at some point, a failed dodge from the skaven with the ball (and several bounces on skaven and liz head) the ball stoped next to a skink, that picked it up.
In that same turn (after picking up the ball) I moved 5 or 6 skinks into the skaven half forming a cage (!) of skinks!
That has enough to protect the ball carrier that did my 2-0, closing the result of the match.
Of course I still had two dead guys but that was a completly different story...
Well, my point was, those skinks are fast enough to turn the table in a couple of turns, one just has to hold the line, an wait for the apropriate oportunity (keeping the skinks as safe as possible).
Congrats for you victory!
Cheers

Thanks Axtklinge, wow, that was some bad luck, a krox and a saurus in one game. Since elves don't have the muscle to bash me into pieces, I'll try your cage.
Cheers

You're welcome.
Just remeber that its just an "one turn cage" to a clean TD on the next!
Other than that its gona be painfull...
