Ok well I just finished my latest match and I rolled a 6 + 4 on my Kick beastman. I'll list the team first of all (note this is a PBBL team)

2 Chaos Warrior with Block and ST5
1 Chaos Warrior with Block, Guard and Mighty Blow
1 Chaos Warrior with Block and Jump Up
2 Beastmen with ST4
3 Beastmen with Block
1 Minotaur with Guard
3 Beastmen
1 Beastman with Kick
(I've suffered a lot of beastman deaths in recent games which has pretty much wiped my beastmen back to rookies.)

Now it's the beastman with Kick who's rolled the 6 + 4 and I'm somewhat torn as to what to do with him. My choices seem to be:
+1AV, +1MA, Tackle, Block or Guard.

I'd prefer the +AV over +MA in PBBL, but I'm not sure I want either. I don't know what to do with him, I'd prefer to only keep him on the defensive drives.

The other teams in the league are High Elf, Human, Nurgle, Norse, Wood Elf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Orc * 2 and Skaven.

Thoughts?

Normally I would say take the MV, as 7 on a Beastman is surprisingly useful. But he already has Kick, which is a defensive skill, and so doesn't work as well with the MV. In that case, Chaos teams really benefit from AV too, so take that ...

I'd agree with Nazgit here....

Hmm, AV9 would also go some way towards curbing my beastman death problem. Thanks, short of someone else providing a convincing argument I'll take the AV.

Hi fen,

I agree with the +AV. However, I think you really need Tackle on that team and I might be tempted to give the Kick-Beasty Tackle as you will field him on Defense anyway.

Cheers

Tante Käthe

P.S. 4 Strength-upgrades on your team :o - you're one lucky (and probably happy  fella :D !

Either the AV advance or Tackle.
As he has Kick, I might try to leave him behind to spare him a bit, so Tackle might be realy helpfull for obvious defensive reasons.

I did lose all my tackle players recently, but I've become very good at setting up three dice blocks in substitute.

I need to look at how close other Beastmen are towards getting Block and Tackle, if they're close then I'll take the AV otherwise Tackle becomes very tempting.

for the next few games tackle will be more useful, but after a few games another beastman should have got it so you may have wasted a stat roll.

wow duke that's 4 skills on a beastman and still no block. and he's the beast with kick, not exaclty Mr. Touchdown or anything.

+MA is pretty useful on a beastman. +av would be nice too - but when he's got kick he's not going to worry too much about getting hit.

Rofl! Add in the fact that he's a seriously sub-optimal player compared to the rest of my line up and you see why I have this problem deciding what to do with him. :D

I've got too many other Beastmen I need to get to 16 SPPs before I could even consider forcing him to skill up, so he's going to have to try and hit 31 mostly through CAS and MVPs.

While I'd love to get a +MA, Block, Shadowing, Tackle guy. I'm probably going to end up with Block, +ST, Tentacle, Tackle players instead. Such is the curse of multiple Double 6s.

It has literally come down to deciding between MA7 on the defense (for recovery and reaching fast players) vs AV9 to try and assist his growth (survival) towards 31 SPPs (I don't need Tackle as my next couple of matchs will be against bashing teams and I'm close to 16 SPPs on two Beastmen.) I'm going to have to make a solid decision before tomorrows match...

Mr. Touchdown, hehehehe. I need a Beastman called Mr. Touchdown.

Ok so here's how the team stands now (remember it's PBBL.) :)

1 Chaos Warrior with Block and ST5
1 Chaos Warrior with Block, Guard and Mighty Blow
1 Chaos Warrior with Block and Dodge
1 Beastman with ST4
1 Beastman with ST4 AG2 - MNG
3 Beastmen with Block
3 Beastmen (1 MNG)
1 Beastman with Kick, +AV

1 Chaos Warrior with Block + ST5 - Rolled 5 + 5
1 Minotaur with Guard - Rolled Normal skill

I got absolutely decimated by a Norse team in one of those games. You know the ones, the ones where the dice just decide to break armour and hurt your key players. That's why the Beastman has -AG, I had to use the apoth to save a ST5 CW. Ended up 1/5 on Casualties alone, I broke armour 4 times all match... And I lost another 2 beastmen...

Now the question is, what should I do with this ST5 Chaos Warrior, please don't bother saying +MA, I'm not taking +MA on him. Considering the amount of damage my team takes it's either a skill to make him more useful or +AV.

Plus what skill should I get for the mino? It seems to be a choice between Piling On, Break Tackle and Multiple Block cause Juggernaut is a giant waste of time for me. I don't Blitz with him unless I can set up a 3D block and I absolutely have to (Boy I hate Minotaurs...)

If you're not going to blitz with him, then sack him as soon as possible: those Minos are so expensive now, and their skills (Horns, Frenzy) and arguably their best skill-pick (Juggernaut) are geared towards blitzing. If you're not going to do it, he can't be worth the TV. (Of the skill options you're willing to allow: Piling On puts him on the ground; Multiple Block doesn't work with Frenzy; and Break Tackle can't be worth it, since dodging (even with BT) is even more risky than blitzing with him.)

… And take MA on the CW. ;) (Or just Block.)
