Wood Elves: Kick or Strip Ball, what to take first

If you´re playing Wood Elves in a tournament and you can take a skill before the first match, what would you get? Strip Ball for a Wardancer or Kick for a Lineman?

I found kick pretty effective for preventing touchbacks, kicking deep against slow teams, kicking short for pressure, kicking to prevent certain players from easy access to the ball, etc.

Strip Ball on a Wardancer is a danger to every player without Sure Hands, everybody knows that, so it´s also very valuable but doesn´t always work.

So IMO Kick would be the first skill pick for me and after that Strip Ball. Both skills are very valuable for Wood Elves, so either way it´s not a "bad" choice. What would you do?

Well, they would be your #1 and #2 picks for sure. I guess it depends on who you face in your first game ... if you face a team whose ball carriers start with Sure Hands (Dwarfs, Humans etc.) then the choice is made for you. However if are facing a team such as Chaos, whose ball handling is a bit rough and need all their re-rolls, Strip Ball can be very effective.

Strip Ball without a doubt. Only Orcs, Dwarves, Skaven & Humans start with Sure Hands - so that means you've got a very good chance of playing against a team without it - and even if you do end up against one of them then you've got a perfect sweeper for ripping the ball of catchers/gutter runners or anyone else anyway.

Kick doesn't really help against flair teams and against bash, although useful probably makes less difference.

both skills are useful, but strip ball is more likely to win the match for you.

I usually go for strip ball
Kick is lower on my list of priorities. I usually take sure hands second, then kick, then side step, then side step

I would go for Strip Ball, especially if it is a skill that has to be given prior to the first match. OK, there are a few teams that have Surehands, but I don't think that a skaven, orc or human player will give Block as a first skill for his thrower. So your Wardancer will still be able to get the ball from the surehands player, because he is more likely to go down without block. After that you can always give kick to one of your linemen, but IMHO Strip Ball could be crucial to win your first game.

Strip Ball for me as well, against Sure Hands teams, you can atleast easily predict where the ball will be, which is half the positional battle won.

Kick is one of those skills I'd like to have, and can see the advantage of, but with 4 or 5 skills in a tournament, I often don't get to it. Sidestep is just so much more alluring.

One tournament I´m going to allows taking skills with the knowledge of the next opponent. That makes it even better for Strip Ball.

Sidestep´s great, too. I like a good mix of skills (Strip Ball, Kick, Sidestep, Block, maybe Tackle).
