Pro versus Chaos, then Norse,...

hello

next sunday I'll be starting the new season of our local league in Bruges; I'm playing Pro Elves.

my opponents are

1) chaos
2) norse
3) ?
4) human
5) skaven

and then match 6 to 10: the same opponents again.

I'm a bit worried that I won't live very long, seen my openings agains Chaos and Norse to start with... This is what I have:

1 catcher
1 blitzer
1 thrower
8 linies
1 apo
2 RR
9 FF

(can't change this anymore)

So; to come to the point: are there any tips? hints to survive at least the two first matches? (I hope the "?" becomes an AG team...) I don't know the exact rosters of my opponents...

Thanx
El Hombre

Unskilled Chaos?

Honestly if it's a fresh team of Chaos you have little to worry about. Sure they have a higher ST but they have no Block and no MB, it shouldn't be a problem.

The Norse on the other hand might be a little more of a concern.

like fen already wrote your first game should be easy, against Norse try to play as much Elf-style as possible, give him just 2 Blitz a Turn and try not to be bashed 2 much, thats all ;)

As the others said, don't worry about Chaos. Unskilled Chaos, they will have enough problems just trying to play the ball. And without block, if they try to bash they will soon run into problems.

Norse, be careful. I know that I usually have problems playing a new DE team against Norse. Stay away from them and try to score lots. Gets KOed players out of the box, and if you lead by a couple of TDs the other team may get nervous and start to rush things, which will cause turnovers that you can take advantage of.

chaos have no "block" but they are strong as hell!!! if beastmen blitz they also have a strenght of 4!!! and had games in which my chaosteam killed or injured almost the whole team of my opponent....

Your chaotic opponent can be a bother, depending on his roster. Force him to risk things so he burns his re-rolls. With AG4 you will be far better at dodging and using the pitch. Against norse: beware the frenziers, and their AV, try to set up 2die blocks.

as far as a general game winning tactic, on defence always keep one player within scoring distance of the endzone. if you pop the ball loose theres an excellent chance hell score.

99% of the time, it works every time

Better keep two in scoring range, one is a walking stiff.

If my opponent wastes his blitz on my "possible scorer" instead of advancing his own offense, so much the better.

haven't played the match yet as my opponent didn't show up, but I had a look at his roster;

1 mino
3 chaos warriors
7 beasties
1 apo
1 RR
5FF

and about the blitz on the possible scorer: sure that doesn't matter... until he gets injured...

I wouldn't worry so much here. With only 1 RR he will get into trouble. Chaos needs RRs for ball handling and blocking and with only 1...

But he will always be able to blitz one of your players. _Where_ he blitzes is where it matters.

Yeah I wouldn't worry all that much about this roster. Taking the mino is folly IMO, and chances are he will burn the reroll early, meaning that his chances of playing the ball effectively go down the tubes.

Actually, it's been awhile since anyone posted in this thread. Did the game happen already? How did it turn out?

the guy playing chaos was banned for not coming to the agreed dates several times, and he was replaced by a guy playing Necro.

he was playing them very very well...

my team got ripped apart :-? .

So now I'm up against Norse with 10 players (2 throwers, 1 blitzer, 1 catcher and 6 linies). On top of it all, my catcher aged on first skill, taking a -1AV.

Seems like it's going to be a tough season...

Norse is a tough draw for Pro Elves early on. Just play your normal game ... try to stay out of contact, using both blocks and dodges to do so. At least he only has 10 players, so if you are lucky you could get some casualties.

Yuck.

"Aging" ... thank God the BBRC got rid of that nonsense.
