Is there an "Official" Bretonnian team list. I read about one on http://www.midgardbb.com/GWTeams/Bretonnian.html.

Can those rules be used as official. Slight modifying and playtesting may be involved. Don't like some of the rules, although the "flesh wound" is pretty funny (thank you Monty Python). Or will the come out with an updated team list in the near future.

Hmm, that doesn't look too bad.

Has it been playtested?

Yuck.

I really dislike this literal squires and knights outlook. Why can't we have a team that subtly represents the class divide within Bretonnian society without all these clumsy positional names? Squires my ass. :P :D

Weren't Brettonians (or were they Albion) in 1st edition simply broken up into peasants and knights?

At any rate, I'm with Naz on this one - the whole squire thing doesn't appeal to me.

If the team is balanced, would it be better to change the names from Linemen, Runner squires, Blitzer squires, Runners, and Blitzers
to Peasants, Runners, Blockers, Catchers, and Blitzers, respectively?

Admittedly, I dont like the squire/knights seperation. I just thought the knights would make interesting Blood bowl players, and figs.

I like the other version of the team. More balanced. You can use knights and squire figs, but call them blitzers, etc...

Some of the skills I dont know, they are PBBL I assume (still not sure what PBBL means, but anyways). I remember reading about them before, but cant remember where. Must have been in there.

I always thought that you should be able to adjust the Human roster to reflect some of the more extravagant examples of the BB Sapien race

Tilea
Albion
Bretonnia

all have their place on the field. just not sure if their appearance is all that is required - well, that and a good back story....

Bretonnia - 6 Blitzers - no catchers
Tilea - 6 catchers no blitzers
Albion - 4 Throwers no blitzers

that might do.

I think Bretonnians should just get Blitzers with AG access rather than ST, because they are fancy dans who like to hog the glory and score. Simple change, and one that would reflect the attitude of knights on the pitch without having to resort to calling them that.

Developing it further, my Bretonnian list might look something like:

Code: Select all

0-16  Lineman    40K  6 3 3 7  {G}
0-2   Runners    60k  7 3 3 7  Sure Hands  {GP}
0-4   Blockers   80k  5 3 3 8  Dauntless, Guard  {GS}
0-4   Blitzers   90k  7 3 3 8  Block  {GA}
You have the linemen to represent the poorly equipped lower classes of Bretonnian society. Then you have the runners to represent the slightly more skilled / trusted middle classes (squires if you must). Then you have Blockers and Blitzers to represent the knightly classes performing different roles on the pitch, one of scorer and one of "monster hunter". Maybe the numbers could change, and maybe Guard doesn't work. But as an example of a team that would feel like Bretonnian without resorting to calling players squire, you get the idea. :wink: :)

I like it apart from 4 players starting with Guard.
Guard is one of three skills I really detest in this game and I think it's simply too good to be on any starting player.

Yeah, that system is quite nice actually. It would work really well for Brettonians, without actually being Brettonian.

I do like the idea of having the variations of all the human teams too.

I'm (like fen) also a bit hesitant about giving four players Guard to start with, especially when the team can also have several players with Block.

And I do like the fact that the current Brettonian team starts the peasants/linemen off with Loner - gives it a bit more of that "plucked a few serfs from the fields to fill out the team" feel.

That being said, I like the look of that team. Viven human blockers!
