Goblin starting lineup for new season (LRB 5)

This weekend the biggest, bloodiest and most unfair bloodbowl league of Switzerland will start its '06/'07 season. It will go for ten games and plus play offs. We will use the new LRB 5 Rules.

I will go for the title with a Gobbo team. Because I luuuuf Gobbos. But I never did a test match with the new rules, and therefore I could need a little help with what I should start with.

How important is a high Fanfactor with LRB 5?

My idea for a 100 TR starting lineup:

2 Trolls
1 Looner
1 Bomber
1 Fanatic
9 Gobbos
3 ReRolls
9 Fanfactor

Option 2:
1 Gobbo out, 1 Fanfactor out, Apo in

Option 3:
1 Gobbo out, 2 Fanfactor out, 1 ReRoll in

Help me! Which one should I take? Or am I completely off the plan?

thanks!

Here's how I take Gobbos in LRB 5.

2 Trolls 220K
8 Goblins 320K
1 Fanatic 70K
3 Rerolls 180K
1 or 0 Fan Factor
200K or 210K in treasury.

Now the reasoning behind this is simple. I plan to use inducements as early as I can and as often as I can. the 200K in the treasury lowers the Goblins team rating to 800K and allows for a Star Player Secret weapon plus a bribe to be induced from the very first match. It also leaves you just a smidge short of hiring Ripper @270K and gives you a deep kitty to keep the team functioning for longer by being able to purchase replacements.

Then you keep an eye on the other teams TV and make careful purchases here and there to try and keep yourself about a 300K underdog for most matches. Initial lost goblins can be replaced with Journeymen so you only really care about the Fanatic and Trolls until some Gobbos manage to distinguish themselves.

If done right you can be fielding Ripper every match, which makes for one hell of a mean LoS.

This isn't the only way to do it of course. But it's the way I prefer as aiming to be a constant underdog allows you to get bribes, which allows more SWs and fouling. Whee!

Interesting, but I thought you can leave only 100k on the bank, and the rest adds to the TR.

Why not taking the Looner for the fouls?

How did the super low fanfactor influence the games?

There's no Bank now. Just a treasury which doesn't count towards TV. The Bank was closed by JJ.

Nobbla + Bribe = 200K I prefer Nobbla over an on Roster Chainsaw. Block + Dodge is great for keeping him in the game a lot longer than you'd expect. Plus I prefer the Pogoer for fouling tbh. I chose the fanatic simply because he's the hardest to eliminate. It could be any of the other three if you wanted, that would free up 30K to spend/save elsewhere.

In our league, not that much. Most people figured out fast that Fan Factor now has a slow pay off rate and also moves upwards quickly. I certainly wouldn't go above 7 and even that seems too much. I took 2 FF with my Khemri and they hit 7 in 5 matches. Though getting higher than that has proven a struggle, I suck at rolling over a 7

Yes, even with three dice. Or the match right after it goes up, it goes back down again on a draw.

My Chaos team has lost 4 games in about 40 (and maybe 5 draws, I don't have the page here) and I'm only at FF8 with them. Something similar is happening to the Khemri.

Still I can live with FF7, its enough to give me a chance against those coaches who've gotten up to 10 (which is as high as anyone's made it so far.)

Considering what you said, I guess it's going to be something like that:

2 Trolls
1 Looner
8 Gobbos
3 ReRolls
4 Fanfactor
(800k)

Leaves me 200k for inducements (Nobbla and Bribe). Looner will do the blitzes and Nobbla the fouls.

But the 11 Players plus the Star seems like so f*ç%ing few.

Drop the 4 FF and get a 9th Goblin then. You'll have 13 players for your first match.

I'm of the opinion that FF isn't worth spending money on in LRB5. :) Somewhat biased.

Wait for other people to give their opinions before you make a firm decision though. Don't base it just off mine, I could be wrong.

Fen I will rolll your FF rolls and you roll my skill rolls..........After about 20 games, I only have 1 double roll, and 1 AG up (ag 4 gobbos are awesome!!!!). My orc blitzer w/ dodge is cool too, dont want to forget him.....This league is pbbl 1.10 rules (finishing up) so it is still 2d for ff and mine is at 10.............and rolled a 10 on my last roll, one more and i would be at 11 on 2d.........

Off subject, my commish is wanting to keep using PBBL 1.10 for the next league after this ends, and I am pushing to use the LRB5 rules. What is my best arguement I can make for switching?????? Im thinking about bringing my khemri team in with mummies that still have general access and just beating everyone into a pulp........I would rather play lrb5 gobbos though.......

He wants to play the next league with wood elves, and he likes the roster better with no treeman and be able to induce deeproot.........And his buddy in the league has norse, and he doesnt want to use the new norse roster. I think that is mainly because he uses Icepelt a lot, and under those rules he has block and he is almost unstoppable with the block mighty blow claw combo......And the commish's brother uses khemri, and the mummies have gen access, which now they dont.......But try to explain to him that the added MV on his guys will allow him to score more and be more mobile since he is having trouble scoring with this team..........I told his brother since he has a dark elf team and he is sick of not scoring, switch to them then. Right now he is playing his khemri like a fast team, that is why he isnt winning or scoring very often.......I want to switch to LRB5 with Thrud house-ruled in, he is a blast to play with, and I am not ready to give him up, especially since I finally got a mini of him :D

So his reason for not wanting to switch th LRB 5.0 is that there are unbalanced things in 1.10 and he wants to be able to continue to exploit them? Sounds like it's time to find a less biased commish...

Thats my take on the whole thing.........He is playing necros right now and he still cries about how the change from lrb 4 to pbbl 1.10 with his flesh golems. He would use that broke stand firm rule a lot where you pretty much get free dodge rolls and if you fail you just go back to your starting square and how the claw got nerfed on his werewolves, and also he liked the apothecary keeping the player on the pitch when healed successfully, and I absolutely hated that rule, he is a doctor not a wizard, it took me 4 turns to casualty that pain in the ass ogre, im not going to stand there and watch doogie howser perform miracle surgery on him to keep him on the pitch. Give me some dice, what do i have to roll to throw a block on the doctor.(Sorry, old wound :x ).......That stuff was changed for the balance and the good of the game, not to spite him......I will switch from orcs to gobbos and just go with the flow........ :smoking:

Do that, teach him a lesson. :D

Seriously, I did consider doing it to the 3rd Ed league that started near me. Take Khemri (which have been house ruled in so the comish can play lizardmen) and then decimate everything in sight.

When was the Bank closed by JJ - the edition i ran off (which we've been using in our league) limits it to 100,000 gp
