A Rat Ogre now costs a whopping 160 K. That´s a lot of cash one could distribute for more or better players.

If you play Skaven in a 100 TV-tournament you can have 3 RR, 4 GR, the Rat Ogre, a Blitzer and 5 Lineman. This way you have only 11 players. You could also go with 3 RR, the Rat Ogre, 3 GR, 7 Lineman and one Thrower for a twelve man squad but no starting player with Block. Or you could have only two RR but that´s another big sacrifice.

And an AV 8 Big Guy is not that hard to take down so IMO a Rat Ogre is a liability in a TR 100 tournament and not worth it. TR 110 is different but even in that environment your 160 K player can go quickly down the drain.

Still, the Rat Ogre is a monster (especially with Juggernaught) and I really like him. Sadly I think he´s too expensive and it´s better to leave him out of your team. Would you do the same or would you consider one on your roster?

I just played an LRB 5 tourney where you could buy a skill for 50k of the TV you're allowed. If this is universal for all tourneys then you could fore-go the RO and tak a skill and a lineman or something.

At tr 100 I wouldn't bother, those 2 Storm Vermin are more important. At tr 110 most Skaven coaches also don't take a Rat Ogre, I do however and I do really well with it. The chang to dirty player and fouling means he's not quite that easy to take off the pitch any more.

I concur with TuernRedvenom on this. For TV100 the two stormvermin are far more important and I'd drop the rat ogre, to go for more models instead. (Max stormvermin + max gutter runners is nasty). On the other hand, it's a permanent addition for my TV110 team and I wouldn't leave home without it.

I went without the RO for the Albion tourney, which was LRB 5 TV110, and did much better than the times I've taken my RO, even when he was AG3. Would much rather have the deeper bench than the RO.

Personally I think the Rat Ogre is still very much worth his price. In all 13 matches I've played my Skaven in tourneys (8 of which in lrb 5) I've never really needed a deeper bench then 12.
A Rat Ogre really adds a lot to a Skaven team. It's an "in your face" kind of player, your opponent must deal with it somehow or face the consequences (taking a bit of pressure away from your GR's). Just having it on the pitch limits your opponent's options as there is a MA 6 STR 5 frenzy player running about giving you the sideline on offence and preventing the same move by an opponent on defence. Prehensive tail is absolutely GREAT when you position it right. Especially being able to break deep into a cage (with frenzy) and pin everything there with the tail. And also he gets an opponent of the pitch now and then. It also combo's well with strip ball gutter runners vs non-bashy teams (elves, other skaven, humans,...). The only place where those teams are safe from strip ball is either deep in their half (in this case you blitz the "middle man") or in a cage, which your Rat Ogre can crack.
The downside is missed blitzes (1 in 6, it's acceptable) and turnovers. But since you know it's unreliable you shouldn't rely on him unless you have no other option. It's that simple, if you blitz with it every turn he'll be a weakness though.
The Rat Ogre isn't that great if you're facing undead/khemri teams though.

I see how the RO can be put to good use. I´d still be mighty nervous if he´s going down...

I'd not take the RO, personally. He's just not worth the price for what he can achieve (and indeed what h can mess up!)

I find that the rat ogre is mostly just a distraction that can help extend the lifespan of Skaven in a league setting.

The nice thing about a tourny is that you can just concentrate on getting TD's without worrying about losing your position players.

Well my current tourney record with a Rat Ogre is (W-D-L): 10-2-1 so he can't be that bad!
