Numbers v. Skill in Developed Teams
Here's the club
My question is this: Would you rather have this team with the rookie catcher or two rookie lineelfs?
I'm fielding 12 for my next match (aganst a fifteen-player strong CD side). I hired the 0 SPP Catcher after my last match to replace that blodging +AV catcher that suffered a -AV drop (didn't want the TV bloat). I haven't played a match since hiring the 0 SPP catcher, so there's time to change my mind. I'm now starting to think about replacing the 4th catcher with two lineelfs, to get my body count up to 13 for the next match. I'm somewhat convinced I can survive a match or two without a fourth catcher. I think my early success was a result of having enough lineelfs to continually field 11 players, which helps keep people off the skilled positions long enough to make plays.
Thoughts? 13 with two rookie lineelfs or 12 with the rookie catcher? TIA.

CD's will kick youre head in if they start to take your players off the field, cause then they'll gang up on the rest, and with tackle and tackle zones itll be so hard for you to get into the places you need. i know from personal experince in decimating and elf team. 10 players off the pitch by the end, 7/8 dead i think it was. it was bloody, and in a tourney to.
but you have the AG4 and with 3 Re rolls, you'll be fine for most things. you need the numbers, so the 2 rookies is my vote.

i would go for the rookie catcher but i prefer skills over body count last season in our league a i maxed out my positionals with an elf side but only ever had a max of 7 line elves.
FYI the league consisted of Khemri, Human, Undead, Skaven, Dwarf, Woodies, GoblinGobbo's and Orc's.
The best result by far was beating Khemri (with no 1 turners) 6-0 and suffering no casualties

OK, so a few more matches have gone by and I took a bit of a pounding in my last match. My next match should garner 280k in inducements (I'm playing against a developed undead team with all blodging ghouls). So, the somewhat related question is this ... induce two merc lineelves (with one skill apiece) or induce Moranian and take a 50k card?
Sort of a numbers question, but the skill I'd take on each merc would be something to negate a lot of block or tackle, whereas Moranian could deal with the blodgers effectively (I've only got one other tackler).
Thoughts? I'm thinking with ST4 and block / wrackle, I'm thinking Moranion would be more useful and with AV8 would be likely to survive longer, although having numbers is nothing to stick one's nose up at.

I'd take Moranaian, He'll be able to make those Ghouls into his bee-hatches and force them to dance the grim fandango up and down the pitch.
The merc Line Elves just aren't that impressive with a single skill on them. Tackle without Block is somewhat situational, Block just allows them to keep pace, Normally I only induce skilled merc linemen for Kick or DP.
And Moranian + the threat of a card just seems better. Make it a Dirty Trick, imo that's where the majority of the good 50K cards live.

I went with Moranian and a card and pitched a shutout. Moranian was the perfect counter to both the mummies and the four blodging ghouls. I had very little problem separating ghouls from the ball and won 2-0. Could have scored at least one and possibly two more but for poor lineelf positioning on my part.
Moranian seems ideally suited to succeed against undead or khemri squads given his skill set.

Moranion has just gone from a joke of a Star Player into one of the more useful ones available for Elf teams. He's the only Star in the Game with Block/Wrestle and Tackle, which makes him great for bringing down Agility players and he has Block + Dauntless for KDing stronger players.
A fair while ago I put it on the line and said I rated Moranion, I'm glad he's proven to be useful here.
