New High Elf Team

Post by GreedySmurf »

Ok So I'm just about to start a new High Elf team. The League I'm in has played through the Spike & the Dungeonbowl, where I used a Norse team.

I want to give a different team a go. And I've settled on High Elfs. (Partly because I've got already got some mini's I can use :) ).

I've sorted out my starting roster, etc but one question that has come up, it was a suggestion from the League Commish who has 10+ years of BB experience was to develop my Lineman with Wrestle instead of Block.

I'm not sold on the idea yet, but I can see the positives of it. I was hoping to get some opinions on whether this is a good idea or not.

To me Block is just to ridiculously necessary. Wrestle is a good secondary skill once you already have Block but I don't like it as the only skill.

Someone want to convince me?

Wrestle has the advantage of opening up more holes for your catchers to easily get through. Block gives you the ability to not develop holes in your own line while on defense and to get SPPs for blocking.

There is a definite tradeoff. However the ability to open holes might be worth it.

I've been developing Wrestle/Fend lineman for my Slann team in my league to open up holes for my catchers and to give them great mobility. So I can definitely see the idea your league mate is saying.

Having a few wrestle players if definately worth it, mainly for LoS duty and creating gaps. But I wouldn't take it across the team and certainly not for players that have block already.

I had several Wrestle Linemen on my Dark Elf squad and they were invaluable. I often chose them over my Blitzers for breaking holes during the early part of the team's development.

You don't want an entire team of Wrestle players but three or four is pretty good, especially when they're players that aren't so likely to get fouled (A Wrestle Catcher for example would certainly get the boot from me.)

It's a great skill for fouling up opposing drives (especially when combined with Fend) and for opening up holes to send players through.
