Goblins under LRB5: How good are they?

Under LRB5, now that Goblins are allowed secret weapons players, how more competitive are there? Anybody has experience playing them in an LRB5 league setting?
At this time, I'm thinking that the addition of secret weapons players on the roster simply makes them more fun, not necessarily more competitive.

Inducements make them more dangerous. In a developed league, Goblins will rate lower than most other teams simply because they are limited to mostly 40k players which don't develop quickly. Classic inducements are Ripper and Fungus.
In my league, I have played against a Gobbo squad with 2 Trolls, 1 Ripper, 1 Ball & Chain looney and Fungus. That's a hard line to break! In our league (19 teams), the Gobbo team is in the top-5 of Most Violent Teams (causing CAS's on the opposition)!
Also the Sneaky Git skill fits very well on Goblins. It is a most efficient skill on Goblins!
So in my opinion, Goblins greatly benefit from LRB5. They still have problems securing the ball and scoring. But a proper Goblin coach should not concentrate on winning the game, but on causing as much mayhem as possible on the opposition.

What elsid said...
... which is precisely why I'm frantically painting up a full gobbo squad and star players for a bit of viciousness

Yep, frantically painting a Gobbo team myself. Thought it would be lots of fun, then thought "hey, I may be able to win a few".
At some point fen was suggesting to get some secret weapons players on the team and using inducements to buy bribes. How much success have people had with that strategy?
Sneaky Git is an interesting skill to get for sure. I'm thinking that the gobbos should develop in a similar fashion as Halflings? A mix of sidestep, diving tackle, catch, and sneaky git? And probably a sure hands Gobbo?

That's pretty much what I've been doing myself, Fungus is cheaper than a Bribe, so he works out a better choice.
I'm also a big fan of the Pogoer, but mostly for the DirtyPing.
I've had a lot of fun with the TV sinking Goblins, and the huge bank roll has climbed to nearly 400K, so I'll be able to keep the team liquid for a long time.

for 300K they can hire a master chef. Think about it if you wnat to win a game.

I would have to agree with what was mentioned before. Goblins might not be the easiest team to win with, but they sure do a helluva lotta damage.
I watched them play a Norse team, and watched my one friend decimate my other friends Norse team. Norse were reduced to 6 players midway through the second half, and the gobbo's had 4 missing, three were ejected.
I would say, numbers wise, you could eventually win with Gobbo's. But detroying the other team is just as fun too.

I like the idea of stealing rerolls using a Goblin team. But you steal/get a reroll on a 4+? Kind of risky. But if it works, then it could be quite fun.
Keep the ideas coming. Fungus, Ripper, master chef, bribes ... Sounds more fun by the post

The bombardier isnt really the best choice of the secret weapons, but it is one of the most fun. Throwing bombs to AG1 opponents, blowing players up (yours and theirs) is just plain fun. Always wanted to get a bomber with HMP, that sounds like some major fun..........

LRB5 Gobbos aren't going to win any more games, but they are ridiculously fun. Plus, if you like to play short games, they still suffer enough turnovers to keep your game going at a fast pace

Throw the bombs next to players instead of straight at them, it works a lot better that way. I think the bombardier is pretty good.

Not true, they do win more games than the LRB4 version. Mostly because they now have 3 Trolls (one who has ST6 and no Really Stupid) and can field multiples of the really good Secret Weapons.
Of course any Goblin coach who doesn't plan ahead when starting and grabs a lot of Secret Weapons (without the ability to Bribe) will actually find their team is worse than before.
All in all I feel that the Goblin team is about 5-10% better than it was before.
The threat of the HMPing bomber is better than actually having one, a smart opponent should move most of his players near to yours, which hopefully leaves the back field free to lob a Goblin upfield then hand off the ball to him for a TD. If they don't open up the backfield, you still have targets.

HMPing bomber. Awesome.
I now feel compelled to get Hail Mary on a bomber just so I can taunt opponents with "
it's time you got a painful HMPing."

whilst in theory it all sounds fun, I am still in shock after Snew mentioned the BB equivalent of "The Scottish Play"
