Orc Team idea

Post by big_green_and_dumb »

Hi all, I'm new, new to bloodbowl, but the gaming club I'm in is thinking about getting into it. The big plan is to play during the super bowl, eat some pizza and nachos and watch the super bowl commercials.

I'm thinking of making an orc team.

Here's my general idea so far:

6 Linorcs
1 Thrower
4 Black Orc Blockers
2 Blitzers
2RR
3 Cheerleaders

It's designed more for fun than for victory, though hopefully some victory will happen as well.

What do youse mugs think?

13 Players are too much in my oppinion for a starting orc squad. There is a sticky thread in this section, where you can look for good starting setups.

I would go for a 11 men roster with 2 more Blitzers and if possible one more reroll.

although if it is fun and not victory that you're after, swap 2 BOB's for blitzers and shuffle the rest a bit to allow a couple of gobbos and a troll

lose the cheerleaders, you probably will never roll cheering fans....

I agree on that one! There's nothing more funny than your troll eating one of your gobbo's.

So my fun orc roster
1 troll
1 gob
2 lineman
4 blitzers
3 BOB
1 thrower
2 RR

There really is no reason to have 13 orcs on a starting roster. You shouldn't be taking that many injuries where the bench would come into play.

May I suggest:

4 blitzers 32
4 black orcs 32
1 thrower 7
2 gobbos 8
3 rerolls 18
3 ff 3

That will be a much more fun team, and more competitive as well. What's better is there's no line orcs. Line orcs are no fun because they can't do anything useful, gobbos will be a lot more entertaining. Buy the troll later. Buy the cheerleaders later.

Need 4 blitzers.

11 orcs are enough.

If you want to have a blast, get the Troll and a couple of gobbos. If you want to win, forget about the Troll. Gobbos are always a good bet, more useful than lineorcs IMO. But on a starting squad, one or two are enough (I usually have one).

So for fun, use a variation of Toby Wan's lineup.

To be more competitive, use a variation of wesleytj's roster.

I would do whatever it takes to get 4 blitzers. Orc blitzers are perhaps the mightiest players in the game at TV 100 and you get four of them!

Also, why not play BEFORE the Super Bowl? Play during the 9 hours of pre-game on TV. Actually, that sounds like a pretty good Super Sunday ... get up like at 8, go play football for a couple of hours, come home, clean up, order Pizza, play BB until about 3, then enjoy the greatest spectacle in American sport.

11 orcs are enough.
I love it when people think that in a tourney and come up against a Khemri team which proceeds to kick their ass. IMO having just 11 players and no AG 4 is provoking nuffle and setting yourself up for at least one very bad game. Eventually that AV 9 is going to break more then statistics tell you and then you're in trouble!
It's ok for a league though, as you can get more players later on.

Well.....after browsing through the Impact Miniatures site.....I kinda.....impulse-bought.....a Valkyrie team deal. So that's what I'll be playing.

You gonna use them as Orcs? I guess that's one idea.

Or did you prematurely ejaculate when you posted the thread?

Do we need to come up with a Norse/Human/Amazon roster for you?

Thought for sure I was gonna play orcs.

Then I saw the Valkyrie figures and had to have them.

so I'll be playing Norse. Preferably with an Ice Troll, since it comes with the Team Deal.

So yeah....should I start a new topic for Norse discussion?

But he's not playing in a tourney. It's just a league, and he himself started off by saying the primary purpose was fun. Tons of beginners by the sounds of it, too. I'm certain a Khemri team in such an environment would have a tough time, imo it takes a good coach to run Khemri well at all.

So if there is that rare case where he takes a few early cas and is stuck playing shorthanded in the first game or two, it won't be the end of the world. After a few games, he'll have an apoth and at least a little bit of a bench, and then there's really no worries in that regard.

yup, just a small on-campus league, and at least half of those involved have never even heard of the game before. Which makes it a bit better for me -- I'd rather learn a game with a bunch of people who are learning at the same time than play my very first game against someone who's been playing the game since it's creation. Last year I tried learning Reaper's game Warlord, and everyone I played against had months and months of experience and knew every rule backwards and forwards and I was just flattened every game and didn't enjoy myself as much.

Yep, we had a newish coach run a Khemri team in our previous league, and tbh, I had tougher games against the Elf and Norse teams, than I did against the Khemri.
