Double 5 on Pro Elf Blitzer

Post by Mootaz »

My Pro Elf Blitzer got a double 5, what should I take?
So far he has Dodge and this is his 2nd skill.

The rest of the team is rather unskilled and the league is rather short (10-12 more games).

Normally I'd take Tackle or Diving Tackle, but this opens new possibilities.

I see the following options (in no particular order):
1) +AV
2) +MV
3) Dauntless (waste of double)
4) Diving Tackle (waste of double)
5) Tackle (waste of double)
6) Shadowing (waste of double)
7) Mighty Blow
8) Thick Skull

What would you take?

They have Side Step already right?

Guard then. :D Which I'd prefer over +MA or +AV.

Take the AV. Your blitzers will be in harm's way more than any other player on your team. The AV will help him live longer. I think Guard is a waste because you'll be hitting with your blitzers, not leaving them in positions to hold the line.

The other alternative is to take juggernaut. With Jug / SB, the ball comes out on anything but a skull. Blodge / jug / SB is a solid thing ... heaven forbid the guy lives to 51 and then you get leap.

Juggernaut is too situational for me. Without Strip Ball and without Frenzy it has no use if I already have block. So basically I'd have a skill that does nothing until I get another skill. And even then it is too situational. I'd rather take Wrestle than Juggernaut on this guy.

Based on what you've said above, maybe mighty blow would be a good fit for you? I think you're undervaluing juggernaut a bit, but that decision is yours to make.

I would go for Guard, then Leap...
In combination with a wrestle, strip ball, leap catcher its awesome.

Blodging Sidestepping Guarders are a real pain. Especially with MV 7 and AG 4. I would never hesitate.... GUARD!

Good luck with wthatever you pick, though!

I think I'll take Guard. Some good reasons already given. In addition, he is currently doing too much in my team. Other players should be more involved so I want to give him a skill that helps others perform better.
With +MV or Mighty Blow, he will be even more the "Go to" guy which I want to avoid.

I rolled a Double for a Elf Blitzer at Pearlies last year, and never regretted taking Guard. Admittedly, the extra AV (under the new rules) is nice, but I think you'll get more mileage out of Guard.

Block, Dodge, Sidestep -Guard-, there is no better asisiting player. You wont upgrade lineelfs that way. They will die too soon. So its a good choice in my oppinion.

I took guard before dodge when I rolled a double on one of mine.....

won the league with him as a major thorn in their side especially when he got dodge and +1ST too....

GUARD all the way
