Fan Factor in LRB 5 tourneys

Hello,

I would like to know how do you spend your treasure between Fan Factor and Cheerleaders/Assistants in LRB 5 tourneys ?

I only attended one LRB 5 tourney (played Goblins... ) and I took 3 cheerleaders, 2 assistants and 0 FF.
I often lose the FAME bonus but I always won the Cheering Fans/Brilliant Coaching rolls.

Does someone have already calculated the odds to know the FF starting value to be almost sure to win the FAME bonus ?

Thanks for your answers. :)

Usually divide whatever leftover cash I have between the three. My dwarf roster had 3 fans in 4.0, they now have 1 Fan, 1 Coach, 1 Cheerleader. It does suck though when you get doubled up on in FAME, especially those evil pitch invasions. So i'm considering going back to fans.

If you have 10-20-30K to spare: 1-3 Fans
If you have 40K to spare: 2 Fans, 1 Cheerleader, 1 Ass Coach
If you have more to spare: you should probably buy a re-roll or a player

I would just put your first 30k into 3 fan factor. This way, you will almost never be at a fame disadvantage through the tourny.

We use the house rule on FF where is starts at 5 and doesn't measure in teams TR. This works very effectively and it makes sense that all teams are equally as popular with the fans on startup anyway.

Not for tournaments though, which normally use the official rules.

The problem is even with FF 3 you are not sure to win the FAME bonus and if you win it, it's just a +1 usually.
But with 1 or 2 Cheerleaders/Assistants, as you have to roll a D3, it's a guaranteed free re-roll if you have a +2 a bonus.
That's why I prefer taking Cheerleaders/Assistants rather than FF.

For tournaments, I'd favor the ACs and Cheerleaders vs. the FF. FAME is only used for the kick-off table in tourneys. Two of the results are results 6 and 8, where the ACs and Cheerleaders have more impact. The other two results, 11 and 12, are unlikely to occur, but can be quite brutal. I'd take the risk though. And getting a couple of FF doesn't guarantee that you will get the FAME bonus, and if you get the FAME bonus there is not guarantee that you will have an advantage for kick-off results 11 and 12.

I'd split my money evenly between ACs and Cheerleaders. If I have 10k left in the end, I may take 1 FF, but that's mostly my engineering brain liking things to be symmetric (i.e. same number of ACs and Cheerleaders).

For leagues, I like everybody starting with FF of 5, but I prefer having the FF still count towards TV. So teams would start with 1050Mgp to spend, where 5 have to be spent of FF. Then when the FF changes during the league, it will affect the team's TV.

It's exactly my point of view.
For Throw a Rock, you have to roll a D6, so it's not really a problem if you have no bonus.
The most annoying result is Pitch Invasion. Hopefully it's quite rare to roll it, that's why I tend to ignore FF compared to Cheerleaders/Assistants.

ehm, well, I prefer to have at least some FF, +2 fame can turn out quite brutal and pitch invasions are not that uncommon.
