3 new skills in the first game (HE)

After a slaughter of my friends new DE team my HE all of a sudden had 3 new skills to put on three catchers.

As I went for a full Cockerel (after knowing that my friends also would) the team looks like this;

1 Blitzers (1 dead)
4 Catchers (3 with new skills)
2 Throwers
3 Lineman

Should I go with Dodge all around or maybe block all around. Perhaps a stripp ball?

what is your intended play style?
what is the team/race make-up of your league?
Are you after generalistic advice or specifics?

General #1

you have only one player with Block - take block

General #2

you have had a player die - take dodge

specifics would have to wait for more information.

Ok as it looks right now it will be these teams in the league;

Lizardmen (mine)
High Elfs (mine)
Human
Skaven
Orcs
Dwarves
Dark Elves
Wood Elves

I play (right now) a classic passing game with high risk dice combinations (I'm always very lucky).
I'm thinking of takign either block or dodge as block makes my mvp players (catchers) survive but dodge makes them survive and run better.

As I also uses the fast catchers as blitzers block would be preferable but also strip ball. Side step is always good for the running/passing team.

given that line up of teams

I would take

Dodge on one - work him towards NOS/Pass Block (a behind enemy lines receiver)

Block on another (play him deep safety)

Tackle on a third (to harrass the ball carrier on the other team in tandem with your blitzer)

2 dodges and 1 block

Dodge skill on high MV players is great especially when you dont have RR left.

Yep, a mix of block and dodge. I'd take tackle on the Blitzers or on a catcher that already has block.

I think I'll go with 2 dodge and 1 block and then give the last catcher block as a first skill.
My thoughts are that the catchers must survive as they are the most important position in the team. So if not + in AV,AG,ST then blodge, side step and then specialization.

I will go against the 'general' opinion to give a lineman kick. I'll give it to a thrower as the linemen is needed 'on the line'.

But you don't put all your linemen on the line. On defence, just 3. The kick lineman stays back. I find that there are way more interesting skills to give to the throwers, as they have access to Passing skills. Accurate and Leader come to mind. And I don't always field throwers on defence.

But hey, to each their own ... ;)

I usually play HE or humans, and every time I get first regular skill on lineman I have same dilemma about kick and every time I didn't get kick I later regret it. Kick will make a huge difference especially against bashing teams. Lineman with kick and block is well enough developed player to play against anybody and it is only 16 spp that he needs.
