Goblin team for Blood Bowl

With the changes to the Norse team in the new ed of the rules ive opted not to convert the new players for my team (they are a werewolf team and so need some work) and instead build a new team - Goblins...well they are actually Gnobblars but haw, what a nose size.
Ive played a number of games now and have come up with the following dilema. Do i take Trolls or weapons?
I have the choice between 2 trolls or 4 weapons. Ive played with both options and found that when playing with the trolls they have been...not very good. their ability to roll 1 for their stupidity and and skulls for blocks has not given them the high hopes i was after.
The weapons on the other side have been equally poor at times with the only one doing real damage being the Ball and chain. The pogoer and bomber seam a bit poor and it's a case of are they worth the risk of a one drive play?
Any ideas?

Without the option for bribes, probably not.

Both? ^^ I dont know what you are planning, but you can use two trolls and 2-3 Weapons without any problems (Fanatic, Chainsaw and Bomber, Pogo is better use in the later game). We have a Goblin Team in our League and I couldn´t get my victory before half 3 ^^ The Final Score were 3:2 (throwing teammates should be restricted -_-). Oh well, you should try to put Trolls and Weapons in your team. It should be Possible

Check this thread for a starting roster

The roster there is based around using the advantages of inducements. The Gobbo stars are very affordable, but you will need to play the team value game making sure your team value is low enough to give you the free cash to get bribes and stars.
I start with two trolls, nine goblins, the fanatic, three re-rolls and FF 2. Leaving you 150K in the bank to replace goblins, and you'll have at least 150K of inducement cash.
Also, I must point out that the league I'm in is testing 50K bribes for goblins, but in LRB 5 150K could give you one bribe and the 50K to go what ever would serve you best!

Yeah, the 50K bribes really help make the secret weapons useable in numbers. I think with 50K bribes I'd take 2 secret weapons (Looney and Pogoer for me everytime) to start (12 man roster) and bank the rest for bribes/apoths.

I'm a big fan of the pogoer (as you can see from my avatar!) but I've had great success with the fanatic (never failed a go-for-it yet).
My next secret weapon purchase would be the pogoer, then the looney and the bomber last!

I thought you could only induce 2 stars.

Secrets Weapons are no Star Player... at least in a Goblin or Dwarf Game ^^

I'm assuming from the post title that shaniepoo is asking about a roster for the forthcoming Blood Bowl tourament in Nottingham - so no inducements other than stars and no team development. Looks like only Darkson got that.
As for what's best, I've no idea. They're goblins - you're hardly going to be expecting to win many, so I'd just go with whatever you find the most fun.

Well in tournaments imo you want both the trolls, the looney and the pogoer.
The Looney and Pogoer are both excellent foulers, and that's where you're going to be able to get any kind of board advantage from. The fanatic is quite strong against bashing teams, but I prefer the pure ground pounding power of the looney and pogoer. It also helps that the Pogoer can score in 2 turns with ease, suffice to say the pogoer is so flexible and useful it should be a lock for every goblin tournament team. And the looney just makes a mockery of Blodgers.
So - 1 Mil
2 Trolls
10 Goblins
3 Rerolls
1 Looney
1 Pogoer
90K left - so maybe
FF5 2 AC 2 CL
Or an 11th Goblin, + 1FF/2CL/2AC
Or the fanatic + 1CL/1AC
Or 1 RR 1FF/1AC/1CL
Edit: Having just noticed that Star Players are allowed that changes a lot.
2 Trolls
9 Goblins
3 Rerolls
Scrappa Sorehead
Pogoer
Nobbla Blackwart
1AC + 1CL
That's what I'd start working from. Nobbla is going to give some people fits, and Scrappa can be TTM'd if you need it (which gives him a potentially huge movement range). Then I'd just need to work on fine tuning my fouling strategy.

The team is for the Blood Bowl in 3-4 weeks so yeah, no inducements.
As for Star player, im using a converted Gnobblar team and so the Goblin characters would look a bit out of place.
What im using at the moment has been:
12 Goblins
1 Pogo
1 Chainsaw
1 Bomber
1 Ball and chain
5 Re-rolls
3 FF
I found that this works ok with the 5 Re-rolls coming in handy a hell of a lot. I thik that the Troll's usless dice rolls in my past games have put me off using them. I might drop 1 Re-roll, 1 goblin and 1 FF and take a troll.

you want to take at least one troll because being able to throw goblins is a huge boost. Just remember you can toss them for a huge range of things, not just OTTDs.
And can I at least convince you to pay the extra 10K and make the pogoer Scrappa? He's a lot better than the on roster pogoer. Gaining Right Stuff,
Sprint and Sure Feet for only 10K

I’ve been playing a few goblin games as they are my B team, I lost 3 – 2 to skaven in my last game which I was quite chuffed with. Hoever I have settled down to a very strange style, I put all three ‘damage’ SW’s on the very first time I receive – and yes I prey that is the first turn.
The reasons for this are…
1. Stops them targetting one of them. Hopefully giving the other two chace to do there thing.
2. Stop you being forced to put them on for a short drive when you a short of players.
Does anyone else think this is a good move?
Oh and the Trolls are an essential part of my team – how else am I going to get the little gobbo with the ball towards the TD zone???

Dirty Player makes him the best fouler on the team (maybe 2nd behind the chainsaw). Once someone goes down, correct use of fouling assists can often get that player to leave the pitch. Even a nerfed Dirty Player is better than no Dirty Player as a goblin team, and the Pogoer being ejected isn't as harsh as other players. Cause he's a one drive doo-dah anyway.
