Frenzy Play Tips

So far, there's one Skill I'm rather unsecure with ... and that's Frenzy.
This skill has a treacherous nature :wink: and seems to bite you in the behind rather regularly.

So I figured I'd turn to you, experienced coaches here and ask you to share some valuable playing tips on this powerful, though dangerous, skill.

How to play Frenzy effectively ?

Figure out what you're going to do on a push-back result. You will be in the defenders square, the defender will be somewhere else. Who can assist you then and who can't. It takes a bit of time to work this out but it pays off. Many coaches don't and are "surprised" by having a dice against second block to make.

The other thing is to count the squares. If you crowd push someone with frenzy make sure you have movement left to get away from the sideline yourself, also check for opponent tacklezones on the square you intend to crowdpush from since you may have to dodge out. Even if you've got dice in your favour your opponent is likely to try and crowdpush you with dice against.

Check where you end up before trying to block or blitz with a frenzier, can you fix the defensive lines if you're forced to move two squares? Can you defend the frenzier?

It is all book keeping, it will become easier once you use the skill more, you'll know what to look out for. However, it also means you're likely to overlook unfavourable situations once you start taking less time to think through the results of your frenzy action.

Frenzy is very valuable... if you are stronger then the opponent. If you have the same strength, it can be a weapon too, but then you have to think about when to use it. It´s perfect if one of the enemy´s players is strolling 2 fields away from the sideline, you can dump him into the crowd (who often consists of guys too mean to play blood bowl) or it´s a good way to break a cage very fast. It´s a good combination with Guard on a second player, but you have to block sideways. so you wont too deep into enemy territory. If you want to learn more, play Norse. They are very frenzy ^^

A mobile guardsman, or a mobile assist w/o being canceled, can be set in a position to enable both frenzied blocks to be 2d or better....

On my Necro team I attempt to put the guard wights in a position to let the Weres blitz with 2d and, if the first is a push, to be in position to give the Weres an assist with the second block....

Line up your helpers before hand and the Frenzied may very well survive....

Trust me, it's much safer and weaker than it used to be, when you made as many blocks as you had movement.

It's just one extra block. Just make sure before you do anything with a frenzy player that you have a plan in case the first block doesn't go as planned. Set up extra "conditional" assists that would need to be used in the event of needing to make the extra block.

The Juggernaut skill is really useful here when blitzing, it gives you options in dealing with potentially hairy situations.

Also make sure you won't have to Go For It. Because if you're sort of movement with frenzy, you HAVE to Go For It. :wink:

Frenzy can really confuse some people – As others have said you have to plan the second block as well as the first. Be careful going into cages – doubly so when there are a lot of Guard around (conversely Frenzy goes well with guard in tight situations)

Frenzy comes into its own when attacking lower strength players as you need no assists. Also really good for crowd pushes, although I only do them on a Blitz because otherwise the frenzy skill forces you to put yourself next to the sideline.

Unless you planned ahead and took Stand Firm/Side Step.

(But watch out for the Grab & Juggernaut guy!).
