Nurgle tournament skills
I need some advice boys!
Nurgle team:
4 Nurgle Warriors
1 Beast
1 Pestigor
5 Rotters
I can give (4) normal skills + (1) doubles skill: The Beast is definitely getting Block, so that takes care of the doubles. My quandry is the (4) normal skills.... all Block? I was thinking 2 Block Warriors and 2 Claw Warriors.. there will be about an even mix of Bashy and Agility teams at the Tournament.
I'm obviously not going to be super-competitive with a Nurgle team, so I want to make smart skill choices.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Jamie

I wouldn't take claw. As stated in this forum a few times, mighty blow out performs claw even vs av9.
The doubles... tough call. Can you give the same player more than 1 skill? If so I'd make a relaible ball carrier. A surehands dodging pest would be idea.

I have to say I do not have the math ready, but I read this also somewhere.... Have to dive into the search engine...ianwilliams wrote:Please can you clarify why you think that is the case?Urb wrote:mighty blow out performs claw even vs av9.

The math should be simple.
With Claw against AV9:
21/36 = 58,3% prone
21/36 * 15/36 = 24,3% stunned
9/36 * 15/36 = 10,4% KO
6/36 * 15/36 = 6,9% CAS
Wit MB against AV9
26/36 = 72,2% prone
4/36 * 21/36 + 6/36 *15/36 = 13,4% stunned
4/36 * 9/36 + 6/36 * 11/36 = 7,9% KO
4/36 * 6*36 + 6/36 * 10/36 = 6,5 % CAS
I think I did it right, those MB cases were somehow tricky. As you can see, Claw is clearly better against AV9 than MB.

That's not the maths you need to do. You need to consider all AV levels and the effect MB can have on the injury roll.
But I'm not doing it. For the first time in a month the office is full so I have to appear to be doing work.

Claw is obviously worse against Av8 because MB gives the +1 to injury if you roll an 9 or more and both break on an 8.
However Urb said he thought Claw was better even against Av9 - which I think Meradanis (if correct) has shown is not the case.
Therefore the question is do you take Claw to face against Av9 (or even 10) players - or MB which is better against everyone else.

I'm a fan of taking pro over block on the big guys. You need that pro for those really stupid turns and you can reroll the blocks if you happen to roll double downs. Plus it helps for GFI, Int, bouncing balls, etc...
I would take extra arms or sure hands on the pest and 2 guards and 1 block on NWs.

I defineltely would take Mighty Blow over Claw, especially in Tournaments, where you never now which race you will face next.
But even in League play I would take Mighty Blow first, possibly Claw second (but prolly a different skill).
Cheers!

I don't think I'd take either. The only exception being claw on a chaos minotaur.
Mighty Blow might be the right option once you already have block, guard etc. i.e. in league play, but not in tournaments IMO.
I like pro on big guys too. Better for bonehead/stupid than wild animal as rolling a 1 is more disastrous.

I think you misunderstood my intentions. Someone constructed the theory that Mighty Blow is better than Claw againt AV9. As ianwilliams pointed out, I did the math for this case only and therefore falsified this theory. It is out of question that MB is far better than Claw in general.PubBowler wrote:That's not the maths you need to do. You need to consider all AV levels and the effect MB can have on the injury roll.
Back to topic: I'd take Sure Hands for one of your Pestigors, too. The rest should be Block. Not a very creative choice, but on average it is better than any other skill choice you could make.
