my local GW is starting a League for BB
and i'm going to be using my Chaos BB team... it's currently
8 Beastmen - 1 mighty blow
3 CW
3 RR
4 FF
i have played one match, "sort of" unofficially, meaning it was a league game, but is at the Very beginning, and no one else has played one. so it's possible to restart if the team needs big time re working.
in that one match, i did get an advancement on one of my beastmen.
and after using a Mino for a while, i really like the way mighty blow has helped slaughter people before.
although i know there is at least two ogre teams, one norse team, at least one elf team. and from there, i'm not sure who all will be playing...
but there will be lots of games up and coming.
anyhoo, any pointers? advice for things to take? i have 2 or 3 more guys who have skills coming up. i read a little and i think either block or guard for the Chaos Warrior that is gaining a skill soon.

You would be wise to take Sure Hands on the first beastman to skill up. Second beastman to skill up should take Kick. From there, you should be taking block on everyone as a first skill, barring doubles or stat increases. If your kicker or your sure hands guy dies, then take the relevant skill on the next available regular increase.
Chaos teams that have a reliable ball handler or two are a force to be reckoned with.

Yeah, now that Chaos teams mutate at will, you'll want one or two beasties with Extra Arms and Sure Hands for advancement.
The rest will want mostly Block first, both Warriors and Beasts. Mighty Blow is a good skill too, but you generally want Block first. While it is highly important for Chaos teams to maim and kill, it's even MORE important for them to not fall down when they hit people.
The 2nd skill for Beastmen should be divided between Mighty Blow, Guard, and Tackle generally.
For Chaos Warriors, Block first again. It's not the "sexy" pick, but it's good. Then I'd recommend Guard, and one or two with Frenzy.

that does make sense...
i don't know why i didn't see the logic behind picking up the ball on a 2...
3+ normally, and the 1 from multiple hands...
so i think that'll be my next one, i think i can salvage the team from here...
the one that has mighty blow, already has 12 points... 2 casulties, 1 TD, and an MVP... so he should get another couple points... especially if i fight a poorly armored team... like the ogres, and just have him beat up on snotties... so that he gets casulty points
but thank you for the input... i will DEFINITLY reconsider my initial investments for skills... and put more weight into a ball handling chaos team... instead of a Khorne style team, where we just kill stuff
we put the blood, in blood bowl

The Extra Arms beastman has an additional use beyond the 2+ pick up. When you have a short 1 turn recieving drive you can use him as the reciever for a pass - which increases the chances of getting +1 SPP on another player.
Having a Mighty Blow Beastman first isn't a total screw up - consider giving him Block next and then either Tackle or Claw - depending on which one will get used more often (that depends on the teams you play against).
You definately want a Block + Sure Hands Beastman to support the Extra Arms one and protect against Strip Ball.
Then load up on as much Block and Guard as you can get. Those two skills in high quantity make Chaos a very difficult team to grind against.
I know something like this works very well (it's my prefered template for Chaos after a lot of games and similar to my prefered Nurgle skills).
2 x Chaos Warrior - Block, Guard, Stand Firm
1 x Chaos Warrior - Block, Mighty Blow, Guard
1 x Chaos Warrior - Block, Mighty Blow, Claw (Frenzy 4th)
1 x Beastman - Extra Arms, Block, Fend or Guard
1 x Beastman - Block, Sure Hands, Fend or Guard
(Both these two would like Dodge on doubles for sure)
1 x Beastman - Block, Mighty Blow, Claw
1 x Beastman - Block, Mighty Blow, Tackle (Frenzy 4th skill)
5 Beastmen - Block, Guard and either Prehensile Tail or Tackle (I've found either one to be very efficient in stopping Elves - a mix of both is great) Also you will want to change the order of picks for one of these guys so it's Block, Tackle, Guard - cause you want two Tackle players early on and the Beastmen are the best choice for this.
Minotaur - Claw, Juggernaut (Block on Doubles), Tentacles
Of course, there are plenty of other options for Chaos, this just gives a strong team with lots of Guard that can also handle Agility teams well. But it will generate less Casualties than a team with more Mighty Blow.
I tend not to plan beyond 3 skills, because sadly that's normally the maximum a Chaos player will manage in the average league.
Stat increase wise I can't recommend +AV enough on most of the beastmen - only the ball handling and Mighty Blow + Tackle beastmen really benefit more from +MA over +AV. +ST is a no brainer and +AG is very good - consider building a runner or blizter type from a player with +AG.
Doubles-wise Dodge is pretty much all you want. Unless you have some specific plan in mind like a Thrower Beastman.

If you get doubles on your Extra Arm guy, get Nerves of Steel! You'll be so glad you did. Then get Big Hand when he gets to 31, and your opponents will all hate you. Even if the ball is in 2 or 3 TZs, your opponent won't be able to keep it away if you can knock it free.

And after Matts suggestions take leap on the next double and very long legs on a normal roll. If he survives that is
My only suggestion is not to focus too much on either ball handling or blocking in the beginning. Create specialists for both when you start and then start building more general players. In a new league don't take block on a chaos warrior as first skill, they are already relatively good at blocking.
By the way, since you're new to the game: did you read the bit in the rulebook about teams that are more difficult to play than the others?

yeah i did read the part that said "chaos is one of the difficult teams to get used to playing"
but for some reason, i roll really good when it comes to knocking people down... and really atrocious when it comes to picking up the ball...
so i figured a team that is geared almost entirely towards maiming the other team, would be a good choice...
last game against my human opponent ended up with 6 / 12 in the "dead / Injured" pile...
with stock beastmen... no SPP's

Chaos take some adjustment, but can be very competitive in the right hands. You won't find a team with more brute strength, given that the Warriors are ST4 and the Beasts all have horns, so they're ST4 when you need them to be. Additionally, there is no other team in the game with access to ST skills across the board. So all the guard and mighty blow you can shake a stick at.
The problem is they start with no skills, so they are a little tough out of the gate. If you develop them right though, they can be really nasty. And surprisingly good at tourneys too, under the right circumstances.

that's good to hear,
i'm really looking forward to how my chaos team will work out once i've utilized some of the ideas on here...
sure hands and extra arms is such an awesome idea...
and i have a Chaos warrior with 4 SPP's so he's up for a new skill Very soon... he's just gotta kill someone

which is how he got those 4 points anyways... and i'm fighting ogres, so i'm sure he'll be able to kill a snottie

but dealing with those ogres will be a pain...

You can dodge with chaos too, they're AG3 after all. And with a bit of luck they'll be boneheaded enough not to need any dodge rolls:)
