Hi

Rolled double 5 on my ogres first skill. WHat should I take?

can have more MA - but his job is'nt necessary to run is it.. would give me chanche to shift my anker...

Or should I go for the BLOCK skill ?

Or someting else that I can have on doubles?

Here's my teams roster, for context... : Purple Bluebirds

First of all, that web profile is amazing! Any way I could use the code on a webpage for my own league?

Second, I'd lean towards the +AV for the Ogre. If nobody on the opposing teams has mutated any claws yet, an AV10 monster would be a nightmare on the LoS (assuming he passes the BH roll).

Piling On might be interesting to consider, but that's just me thinking way outside the Block box (the Blox?).

Block!!! Becomes a hard hitting killing machine rather than a fall down 1 in 9 turnover risk.

Block.

If you already had guard on him, one could make an argument for Pro. However, I still think block would be the best choice.

To be honest, Block is almost always the best choice if a player doesn't have it. This is especially true for Ogres and other players who need doubles rolls to get a general skill.

Since any doubles will get you Block but only 5-5 or 6-4 will get you +AV/MA, would it make more sense to get the stat increase now and pick up Block later?

No guarantee you will get another doubles roll. Take block now.

AV10 is pointless so it's a toss up between MA6 and Block, in truth that's no contest.

Block it is.

I believe Pro is more important than block as it allows you to reroll really stupid and you can always reroll bad blocks.

But block is a close second.

Add in that Block keeps your big guy standing on your oppenent's turn and I think that puts it (block) over the top...

But that is just me.

The best defense is a good offense.

It's not a question of rarity, but one of availability. The only reason to pass up block is:

1) You have a better choice (Arguably, +STR qualifies, and on some players Dodge, or Sure Hands, etc.)
2) You have a choice which is rarer, and you can pick up block on your next advance.
3) The character is not made better by having block.

In the case of the ogre, 2) and 3) are definitely not the case. I think most would argue that 1) is also not true, but I suppose if you value Pro more or +1AV, you might agree.

This might be drifting off-topic (and if I am, I apologize -- it's the n00bness ), fen and Jural, but why is AV10 pointless? In the mini-league and store league I'm currently in, I'm having a tough enough time trying to crack AV9. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to try AV10 without Claws. There are other doubles (1-1, 2-2) to pick up Block or whatnot with, so why waste the chance to armor up a big guy?

Thats exactly why. AV 9 is already very hard to break, and not going down on the both down result on the die will probably save you more often than the increased AV will. Also, its bette to not go down at all, than to get knocked down and have to make the really stupid roll just to stand up again.
