Needs help with High Elf team

Hi!

I'm new to this forum but I've been playing BB for a couple o' months.
I had my fourth league game today, and one of my Catchers got his first skill, I rolled two 6's. Which means that I can pick either +1 strenght or GA SP skills.

+1 strenght is really cool, in the offence, he can blitz through my opponent's defence and be a real pain in the ass for my opponent.
On the defence he can handle most guys that comes through my linemen and blitzers.

Or should I pick dodge, block etc...?

Here's my team set up ATM:

Thrower – Safe Throw, Pass, Accurate
Blitzer – Block
Blitzer – Block
Catcher – Catch, Dodge
Catcher – Catch, Jump Up
Catcher – Catch, +1strenght or GASP skill?
Lineman – Kick
Lineman – Dodge
Lineman – Dodge
Lineman
Lineman
Lineman

1 Apothecary

This ends up with a team value of 1280k, the skill on my 3rd catcher ain’t included.
So that means I end up at between 1300k and 1330k, + a possible catcher, got exactly 90k in my treasury. Should I buy another catcher or is it too much? I’ve only had four games so far in our league, and don’t wanna be to far away from the other players. One option is to cut one of the linemen off the team (I have two who doesn't have any SPP).

Any ideas about a new catcher?
Should I buy Ass. Coach, Cheerleader?

Just so there's no confusion:

+ST +ST +ST +ST +ST +ST +ST +ST!!!!!!

You already have a 12-man (-elf?) roster, so adding more players isn't an immediate concern. An assistant coach and/or cheerleader would be a welcome addition, IMO.

I don't even need to see the rest of your team. STRENGTH!

Not sure a 4th catcher is necessary. I like to run 3. One stays on the bench so he's ready to go when one gets knocked out. You don't want 3 on the field (the Armor7 is too fragile to run more than 2) and they are too expensive to sit more than one on the bench.

If your league is still young, save up for another RR. If you are behind the curve in development, buy another Thrower or lineman (I'd go thrower though).

Remember to throw a pass nearly every turn you have the ball. That's how HElves skill up.

Yep. There are maybe 1 or 2 situations where I would disagree, but they have nothing to do with any of the elf teams.

First I would buy a 3rd reroll afterwards you may want the 4th catcher...

Thanks for all the advices, I didn't buy a new Catcher or any re-rolls.

I won my fifth game today against a newly started skaven team, the score ended up 4-0.
He had 330k to spend on inducements and he bought a Halfling Master Chef and rolled <4 on all three dice!
I got 20 SPP that game + MVP. On top of that I got 90k in winnings.

So, my ST4 Catcher, a Blitzer and my Dodge Catcher leveled up.
What skills should I get? All three gets to pick General and Agility skills :)

Blitzer - Dodge
ST4 Catcher - Block??
Dodge Catcher - Sure Feet? or Block? or...


Any advice is helpful :)

A Skaven Team with Halfling Master Chef? Did they eat the Halfling Team? Anyway

Dodge for the Blitzer is a no brainer, Blodge is something you wouldn´t regret. It´s very hard to stop something like that.

For the Dodge Catcher... take leap. With Agi4, Dodge and Leap, there is no chance to stop him. Every Elf Team should has 1 or 2 players with leap...

The Str 4 Catcher should get a skill to support his strength. Block or frenzy would be just perfect (first block though, frenzy without block is dangerous)

Definitely get Dodge on the Blitzer, and for your high strength Catcher - I would probably go Block there - in his catching roll is very useful, or if using him as a blitzer it's a must.

For your third catcher, two options - the conventional one - go Block, Blodger catchers are a pain in the ass, or the slightily off the wall Smurfy one - go Pass Block.

When I play High Elves I like to give two catchers Pass Block, I sit them a few squares (3-4) behind the line on defense, one near each widezone mark and wait for the pass to come.

Theory behind this, the Helf catchers don't need much help out of the box to do their job of scoring points, so you can afford to use one skill up for something else, plus Helf's need all the help they can get on defence.

All that being said you have to give some consideration to your league make up - are there many other team that routinely throw the ball? If not the Pass Block will be largely wasted and you should forget about it.

Heh. Funny. My +ST Pro Elf Catcher just got her second improvement. I gave her Block, and I'm tempted to give her Frenzy next. However, it's also tempting to get Dodge or Leap to increase the number of opportunities to throw those 2d blitzes. Maybe I'd do Frenzy first, but I'm not sure.

for your +ST catcher: dodge is still great. MA8 ST4 blodger is going to be awesome. Dodge will help you get ST4 to where it needs to be.
