Second Skill for an AG 5 DE Blitzer

My dark elf team has only played 4 games and just had a blitzer gain +1 AG. What do people usually take as a second skill, especially on a starting team. Dodge, leap, or something else (Assuming a standard skill).

My team is

Blitzer with +1 AG
Blitzer with dodge + jump up
Blitzer
7 unskilled line elves
2 line elves with block
1 unskilled witch elf
2 rerolls

I plan on buying a reroll next. But that really isn't on topic.

My opponents are (scheduled league, so everyone has played 4 games).

Lizardmen, Chaos Dwarves, Skaven, and Necro.

with AG5 already, leap is (almost) a no-brainer

Dodge first, keeps him alive and dodging into 1 tz is then 2+ with a skill rr, pretty nice. Take leap later.

leap, pass block, dodge

any mix of the above makes him perfect

Don't get pass block too soon. Dodge will be much more useful more often. Dodge, leap, strip ball.

I would take leap and then Tackle then Pass Block.

Just my 4p.

dodge and leap are the two skills that i would give to him. After that you can add some more skills to help on defence, like strip ball and tackle. Which one you take depends on how the other teams in your league develop. But with Skaven, Lizardmen and Necros, tackle sounds pretty good. Pass-block is nice, but it depends on how much passing you get in your league.

Either way, you will want 2-3 tacklers in the league that you have. If you roll doubles on a blitzer, give him Mighty Blow, then Tackle. Then go GR/Skink/Ghoul hunting.

I would give dodge, leap, strip ball in that order.

I second that. And if he gets another skill up, consider Wrestle. I know it's a little bid odd, because he's got Block already. But the Wrestle/Strip Ball combo makes the ultimate ball thief.

Leap. It lets you do things you can't even try without it. Dodge is cool, and would also be a good choice, especially if you think 2RR isn't enough.

I think this is where I am leaning towards. My fear with leap is that he will not have as much protection, especially if he keeps leaping in boxes. Keeping him alive longer is a great incentive :)

With AG 5, he can still get in a box on a 4+.

Pass Block is a no go. It is rare for my opponets to pass longer that quick and I have rarely seen it be effective. I would need several other pass blockers as well wouldn't I? Plus Chaos Dwarves and Lizard men rarely pass.

So dodge, then leap

Leap and then strip ball is a bit tempting.

Perhaps if I was a wood elf or elf team I would do the leap/strip ball thing. I find dark elves can't capitalize as quickly on the loose balls as other elf teams can (and skaven).

Thanks for the advice.

I would say leap first, but you can't go wrong with dodge.

In many cases, leap or dodge with 5 AG both give you good odds of success in maneuvering through tight spaces.

On the other hand, the Dark Elf team I played two years ago (LRB 4.0) had the exact same conundrum. I chose leap first, and the way that skill choice opened up the options for me (and at minimal risk, I might add) was amazing.

Never once did I leap him into a cage though, I used it to leap over defenses or loose ball protectors.
