dark elves, necro, what to do?

Post by razorclaws »

Ok, i'm about to play in a BB league for the first time in about a year, i think the number of games are to be between 6 - 12, got a fair amount of experience and no cluse about my opponents

It's starting TR100, but you can't buy extra fan factor, and you get three free skills (one per player, can't select the same skill more than once.)

So with that in mind, i've got to decide between DE and Necro, i'm so far thinking of these two possible rosters,

Necro

2 WereWolf (one with block)
1 Flesh Gollum
1 Wight (tackle)
1 Ghoul (sure hands)
7 Zombie
3 Reroll

Or

Dark Elves
3 Blitzers (one with dodge, one with strip ball)
1 Runner (with NOS)
7 Line-elves
2 reroll
with 30 gold left (for apoth)

So whats your thoughts?

With three skills for free, necro seems very tempting! Take 2 flesh golems and give them guard and block. Wolfies and ghouls skill up easily so I wouldn't give any skills to them.
If you go for the dark elves I'd first give 3 linemen a skill (block, dodge and kick), again, the positionals skill up quickly enough.

Necro. Werewolves and Golems with starting skills are horrifyingly good. Block on a Golem (Gollum was the LOTR character) is good because it'll accelerate his SPP progression. If you have two of them, they make fantastic defensive ends/inside linebackers.

If I read correctly you can't get 3 players with Block skill.

The Necro team will be a super team for a rookie team.

Block on Flesh Golem
Dodge on one Werewolf
Wrestle on Ghoul

Block on one Were
Dodge on the other
Kick on a Zombie (you'd be surprised how good your team gets with this one skill)

If you go Necro. Get both FGs and put skills on them. Block and Guard look good. They skill so slowly the normal way it's SICK!

Do the skilled guys start at 6SPP or 0? If 0, get a Flesh Golem with Block for sure. If 6, maybe still.

When Snew and I agree, it's gotta go down like that!

FG with Block
FG with Guard

and I still say:

Zombie with Kick!

Ya' kick deep if they cover short and kick short if they cover deep and the Wights and Wolves come flying in....

I'm with Vomit if your skilled-up guys get 6SPP to start. If they start with 0SPP and a skill, give something to a skill positional instead of the Kick Zombie, like a WW with Dodge or a Wight with Tackle. One Zombie or another will eventually go up, and you can get a kicker then. A one-skill jump on one of those positionals will lead to a super-player in no time if you only need 2 TDs to get another one.

Either way, FGs with Block and Guard sounds great.

well i guess it's necro, i'm not sure about whether you get extra SPP's or not, but what you say makes sense, i may well start with two FG block, guard and give the dog dodge

Consider Mighty Blow instead of Guard on one Flesh Golem.

At 0SPP I think Stashman's onto something maybe... not sure. At 6, Guard is too good and Mighty Blow too unpredictable.

guard on a FG is the best skill. I'd consider mighty blow over block, simply because it will speed up development.

I would've thought so but, having played almost 30 games with Necros, you keep getting knocked down and having to just stand up (you're only strength 4), or using a blitz, without opportunity to gain SPP....

Block is much better....

Block speeds development almost as fast as MB does with more in-game impact... provided you're blocking schmoes who don't have Block themselves. On paper, it's only about half the acceleration, but in practice you'll be more willing to make early blocks with him and that makes a big difference.
