Playing against Khemri - away from the mummies or hit them?

Post by JJB »

Hi everyone

I'm about to play against Khemri for probably the first time in my life, with an agility team (wood elves with a treeman).

Both teams have only 4 games' experience.

Is it possible to stay out of the way of 4 mummies, or shall I instead try to isolate and take each down one by one?

As a Khemri coach: Try to die bravely. Your bodies will be buried in the leafy glade of your choosing with respect and dignity.

Muhahahahahaha

As a sympathetic coach: The tree should be able to tie up one or two if positioned correctly. Avoid the other two mummies like the plague (which is probably what you'll catch if you get too close.).

Take the skellies out one by one as AV7 is eminently passable.
Try not to leave downed players in positions where they can be fouled out by spare skellies.
Run. You have MA7+ so get away from everyone and only allow the opponent one blitz per turn. NO FREE BLOCKS!

That's pretty much it. Also, if you can somehow take the Thro-Ras out of action, you're home free.

Ball, ball, ball. Scoring saves lives. The Tree is good to tie up a Mummy or two: one Mummy is easily avoided. If a Mummy goes down and you can get him open, foul him out (better to be ejected than killed).

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

You avoid them all until you have a chance to isolate them, and then you tie them all up and move the rest of your team in to overwhelm the skeletons. Deep kicks on defence are your friends here.

If you happen to have a mighty blow player or a dirty player then ganging up on isolated mummies is the best plan you have. However any half-decent khemri coach will never let this happen and will keep some skellies nearby.
Hitting the skeletons rarely works in my experience, often this is just what he wants you to do.
Getting at the thro-ra's is another option but probably also not easy to do as he should protect them well (and not field them on D).

So you should probably just kick to him, try to stall on your own drives (don't get surrounded!!!!) and hope somthing goes wrong in his drives.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Landover, I like your full strategy, although as TuernRedvenom points out, I indeed suspect that my opponent will protect his good players - the guy knows what he's doing.
