My Norse have 140K...

Post by Frankus Macimus »

going into the play-offs. My team is a bit wounded having lost two lineman to some killer dwarves and one of my berzerkers earlier in the season. Now my snow troll is out for the first round of the play-offs.

So I'm down to 10 players and was curious what people thought. Add a 4th reroll and field a journeyman or add a second berzerker to start filling out my roster.

I still don't know who my first opponent will be either Orcs or Humans... and my roster as it stands is below.

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Tough call! I would probably buy a player (either a beserker, 2 linemen, or another thrower). You need a bench with Norse which you'll get hopefully in your 2nd round game. Besides, what do you really need another RR for? You have surehands for picking up the ball, pass for your passes, and Dodge on your runners. You really only need it on your one die blocks (which I do a lot with my Norse team).

BTW, you really should have given kick to your first skilled lineman. You might want to do that on your next lineman skill up.

I agree with datalorex on this one: RRs are fine, Kick would be a great addition and you need a deeper bench! My personal choice would be to buy a Beserker. Block/Frenzy/Jump Up will keep your opponents pressured and, with a little clever positioning, will result in a few crowd pushes.

In my oppinion you have enough rerolls. Get a beserker and a lineman, so you have a bench.

Re-rolls

Post by Frankus Macimus »

Obviously, you've never met my dice. ;-) It seems I need rerolls more with my 2dice blocks than for the 1die. In fact, I'm notorious for my bad rolls since I've actually hit quadruple skulls on more than one occasion (now known locally as rolling a frank).

However, I've opted for the berzerker and the lino to add depth. It's better to have bodies to keep the game going than to need depth and not have it. Ie saving the game and not just one play.

Tonight I find out if I have to face orcs again or if I get to match up against the humans. Both are tough coaches with the humans being the only one loss team in the league (of course, I did give him the loss)....

Thanks for setting me straight.

Well, I'm a math junkie, and although you need the players badly, I'm wondering if the Zerker is gonna be that much help over the free journyman (aka "Line Fodder"), and saving the cash to come out with lotsa new hires in the 2nd round, if you make it that far.

No Mercs or Star Players in the playoffs though, so that'll mean you'll be taking things like bribes, and definitely a wizard to help with cages and the like.

Tough call... I suppose some of it might depend on who you're playing in the first round. Humans, or the Orcs.

What exactly would you be saving your money for that's better than a beserker? Your goal is to put the best 11 players on the field and then try to have a bench. Buying a beserker and a lineman accomplishes that.
