So Which Star Players do you use?

Post by Marlow »

Salutations Readers,

Obviously it is going to depend on which team you are using, but I was wondering what Star Players people use (or see used).

I prefer to have aggressive stars so they do not suck up too many of the SPP. I do not really want them scoring.

I like
  • Zara the Slayer (Great Blocker)
Ripper (Three Trolls on a Goblin Team, and no Negative Skills)
Anything with a Chainsaw (for taking out Big Guys)
Eldril Sidewinder (He intercepts and then Passes for the TD, and his Hypnotic Gaze gives Elves a Psudo-Blitz as an extra action. Cheap too!)

Anything with chainsaw is a great buy.

And I really like Eldril, but I love Prince Moranion. A ST4 elf with dauntless, Tackle, Block, and Wrestle? He's bound to take the ball from anyone!

I've always wanted to play Icepelt and have 2 snow trolls on the field at the same time, but alas, it's hard for a Norse team to get 330,000 in inducements.

None - Stars suck bigger than horse lovers.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

so far - none.

Well, I have yet to be on the receiving end of inducements to be true.
(I´m playing Undead in a league right now and the one tourney I played that allowed stars as a 12th man on your roster, I chose not to use a star on my lizard team)

I faced several stars as opponents so far. The chainsaws didn´t do much, Icepelt was easily marked and only Setek (or whatever his name is) was useful with BT and Strip Ball.

Depends on the league allowing them or not.
I remeber having used Grisnhack Blackhoof(?) for Caos many (many) years ago, and for humans Migthy Zug, and Griff.

Nowadays, I use the minis(starplayers) as any other positional player.

Cheers

I haven't had the opportunity to use any stars yet, but I think in my next match against a certain necro team I'm going to use Boomer (dwarven bombadier) on my Norse team... AG2 zombies and Flesh Golems forming a LOS defence? not any more :-)

You realise it's a flat 4+ now, not reliant on AG anymore?

Secret weopons on my orc team. I use Nobbla instead of the orky chainsaw (houserule), but i love using the fanatic too, especially versus dwarfs when he has taken out 2 slayers in 1 sweet turn, before opening the cage up for my blitzers.

If they're ST4+ and have Block they're amazing. That's all I look for in a star player. The Chainsaws aren't bad, but I'd take Borak/Zug/Varag/Zara/Hubris/Griff/Slibi/etc over one any day. Nobbla, Flint and Max are the best chainsaws.

Count Luthor is the best one of the lot. ST5, AG4, Hypno Gaze and Blodge is top of the shop. He's who little BB players want to be when they grow up.

The Elf stars mostly suck, the Skaven stars suck even more. Where's a ST4 Claw Blitzer for Skaven eh? eh?

Chainsaws! <sob>.
Skaven can't get a chainsaw in 5.0

But the Khemri team can ALWAYS take Hack. Gotta love that buzzing noise

I've used Prince Moranion against some undead and Morg against some Khemri. Moranion is a juggernaut for elf teams in need of some punch and Morg needs no introduction.

I think they add some fun to the game and disagree with Darkson's hatred of them.

I've used Morg to even the score once, but he probably isn't worth his TV (unless the other team concentrates on him) I think Hthark is very valuable, a Strength 5 Bull Centaur with Block! On my Dark Elves, Hubris Rakarth was a good fit, as his high strength (plus block) really give a dimension not there before.

Ooh, and The Chaos Dwarf guy zzzzZharg is very useful. Not so much for the Hail Mary Pass, but more because of the Strength 4, Block, and very low price. He can really dominate a drive.
