skill on a ST5 runner and double on a MB troll slayer

Post by Joemanji »

Here is the team in full (pre game): http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBL/teamView.php?teamid=433

I have rolled up a normal skill on a Runner with two ST upgrades (#4). I've pencilled in Block for this guy, as he tends to get up close and personal more than most Runners.

I have also rolled a doubles for a Troll Slayer who has gained Mighty Blow (#5). I had thought Dodge to keep him on his feet and give the team some added mobilty, or perhaps Side Step to keep him alive after crowd pushes. However this latter is not as great in PBeM as the tool chooses a square for you, and I have found opportunities for crowd pushes limited so far. Although perhaps that is because I have been worried about retaliation. Or should I ignore the doubles and plump for something like Piling On?

Any other suggestions?

Cheers :D
Joe

Block for the runner, no doubt.

ST 5, AGI 3, Mov 6, sure hands, block... what a ball carrier!! Unstopable!

Sidestep is a good choice for the trollslayer, or perhaps block to make harder to block down?

Definitely Block for the runner.

Have you thought about Juggernaut for the Troll Slayer?

Thought about it, but I don't really think it offers great value, especially as I don't prioritise crowd surfs. Side Step helps me do those with less risk, so I think I'll take that.

Whoops, I totally overlooked that you mentioned that you rolled a double for the Troll Slayer. I might go with Bucket-Head and say Dodge then.

For the Troll Slayer, I'd consider Jump Up and Diving Tackle.

For the runner, I can't recommend anything more than block. It is really the best choice here.

First of all, congrats on getting 2 strength upgrades! Yes, block is the obvious choice.

Also, get another RR. You have the cash and cheap RR's are one of the strengths of the Dwarf team.

On the troll slayer, JU is a good choice. Dodge is okay, but with AG2, it has limited applications. Sidestep is probably the best choice here, but also consider Sprint or Surefeet. Nothing's worse than frenzying and having to GFI to do so. Having said that, SS is probably the best choice.

On the rest of your team, I am suprised to see a lack of MB, and I'm suprised that you took Dauntless on blitzer when you already have 2 Troll Slayer. Seems redundant. Could you explain why not MB on the blitzer instead of dauntless?

Slayer: Side Step. It's great on defense, plus it protects Frenzy-boy from crowd-pushes.

Runner: Block is a no-brainer.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Ever thought about Strip Ball for the Slayer? It would be a waste of the double, and with Mighty Blow in already I think Jump Up or Dodge are very good choices, but I really like Strip Ball, and Frenzy gives you 2 Blocks....

Cheers!

MB will become fruitful on second picks. I am wondering why I gave that Blitzer Dauntless too, in all honesty! But I don't tend to use Troll Slayers very much, as I find AV 8 and Frenzy to be a liability, so it doesn't hurt to have him around.

Dodge or Jump Up for the Slayer. Both rely on your agility to some degree, so Agility 2 isn't the best for that...but with dodge, you are taking it more to avoid being knocked down as much...and it provides a 75% chance of succeeding on a dodge when you do want to move somewhere else.

Jump Up helps greatly with the speed deficeit dwarves have, even if you sometimes try to throw a block and remain prone.

4 RR's is generally plenty for a dwarf team..5 if you have a leader. any more than that and you are often giving away TV to the other team

For a relatively slow and inagile player strip ball is a poor choice IMO. The chances of him ever getting to and hitting the ball carrier and thus getting some use out of the skill are pretty slim. Frenzy only makes it worse, when you are hitting the ball carrier it is very likely that there will be a lot of the opponent's players around which makes frenzy a big liability.

Dodge and Side Step are both good choices. I would take Side Step because it can prevent people hitting you and its counterskill isn't so common.
