Third skill for an Undead Mummy
Hi all!
A Mummy from my Legion earned himself a third upgrade. After Guard and Stand Firm he rolled a 10 (6,4). I see several options:
1) +1 AV
2) +1 MA
3) Juggernaut
4) Grab
5) Break Tackle
6) Multiple Block
At the moment I am not in favour of the stat increases, although I can see the benefit of being able to blitz without having to roll a gfi, I hardly move more than 3 with them anyway.
For the same reason I do not think I will take Break Tackle. My Wights and Ghouls are more than mobile enough. I want my Mummies to stand in the way, tie down opponents and block. Grab can be very useful for that, and I have a Krox in another team who makes good use of Grab. Juggernaut will prevent turnovers and works against more skills, but the Blitzing in my teams is done by the Wights and Ghouls most of the time.
Thoughts? Comments? Did I miss something?
Cheers!
M
Edit: the rest of my team consists of:
Mummy (Guard, Stand Firm)
Wight
Wight (Guard, Mighty Blow)
Ghoul (Block, Sure Hands)
Ghoul (Block, +1 Ag)
Ghoul (Block, Guard, -1 Ma)
Skeleton (Kick)
Load of Zombies

Absolutely, definately, without any doubt whatsoever +MA.
Besides that the +MA gives you all kinds of coolness it's especially usefull for mummies because now they can blitz from being prone without having to GFI, as you already noted.
I have always taken the +MA on a mummy and it was great every time. Their biggest weakness is that they're slow.

Re: Third skill for an Undead Mummy
I'd definitely take the MA. I have a Mummy with Break Tackle and Dodge, and I can tell you that it isn't all that. I just end up rolling double skulls every turn in an effort to try and use it.Brokje wrote:A Mummy from my Legion earned himself a third upgrade. After Guard and Stand Firm he rolled a 10 (6,4). +MA would indeed be my choice. You get +25%. You are more mobile on the pitch to guard assist when needed and indeed no GFI to blitz an opponent beside you when you are down.

To quote the White Dwarf tactics article
"A mummy with a high movement is enough to give some coaches nightmares"
And for once they got it right!
The skill options aren't bad but I'd never take +AV on an AV9 player. The stats & increased effectiveness of Claw rule it out.

You've got Stand Firm. I'm going to be the lone dissenter and recommend a skill. Grab is mediocre-but-fun, and Multiple Block is great against some teams. You don't want to be moving this guy: you want him to be where the action is, throwing blocks and providing assists.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

+1 MA
You say it yourself, you want him where the action is so with the movement he will arrive where the action is. Otherwise you just run away from him and he has to look at the action from a distance

Good choice. It this were a khemri team, you'd be lynched for not taking MA. But with an undead team, you could get away from taking MA because you have more speed than khemri. But it's still really a no-brainer. Juggernaut isn't that useful because you don't have the speed to blitz that much. Mult Block is really only good on ST6 guys or at the very least, ST5 with block (if you have lots of guard). And you're too slow to make good use of Breat Tackle. So that leaves Grab. As you can take Grab the next time you skill up, you should take MV now (which is what you are planning to do, so good for you!)
