Double 5 on a Norse Blitzer, what to take?

Hi, he's on this team:

It was gonna be so simple, get PO next, but now I'm really torn-the AV to help him survive, dodge to stop him going down in the first place, side-step to set up crowd surfs-what to do?

AV is for coddlers and dilettantes.
Go for Dodge. Blodge is not particularly original, but it is a fundamentally useful combo.

Mmm, I was thinking that and dodge does fit in with my play style the best, but I thought I might be missing a better choice.

The way I see I you have one choice: Side Step. Dodge is all find and dandy but to me frenzy almost constantly demands side step just as a way of survival.
He gets hit, you put him where you want, you crowd someone? he escapes a live. It's just too good of a skill.

My first instict was AV, but then BBB made a great argument for SS. Now I agree. SS for sure! I don't know how many times I've Frenzied a player off just to go crowd surfing myself.

I think its not the best as you can get stand firm on a regular roll and it does a very simular thing.
I would go with the +1 AV myself.

I hate multiple nicknames, Alster/Aliboon.
Remember what happened against my High Elves, you were beaten into the KO box pretty badly. Some more armour would have helped. In my Norse team, those Berserkers always were the key players, so some extra protection is a good idea. +1AV is the best option for me, especially when considering some more long term development.
In my opinion, Side Step is a no go area for players who have ST access. As atropabelladonna said, Stand Firm does the job most of the times. Especially with the pbem tool, Side Step isn't as good as on tabletop.
Dodge is nice too, but around your TV, nearly every team will have at least one Tackle player especially designed to hunt down AV7 Dodgers.

Sidestep is very very annoying on frenzy players and jump up players (fall over next to the ball carrier - oops)

Exactly. I'd always take side step over stand firm, and since you have the opportunity I recommend you do the same. Stand firm is a great skill no doubt, but this is just too god of an opportunity

I would choose sidestep (same argument as ianwilliams) or Diving Tackle.

Sorry, I tried to register under Alster at Talk Bloodbowl, but messed it up somehow so went for Aliboon instead!
Looks like side-step is the way to go, or at least it would be on tabletop....gonna play safe and go for dodge and hope that my 3 blodgers will keep any tacklers busy.

I'm a great fan of Side Step, no doubt. Tabletop, it's worth it's weight in gold pressed latinum.
But it's only half effective with the pbem tool, because don't have any real control about the square chosen. It's still good on secondary pushed in your own turn, though.

I agree with Dodge.

Having an awful record with Norse Blitzers, I'd take the +AV.
Not that I disagree with either Dodge or Side Step, just my Blitzers won't get as much use out of either skill as they would the +AV.
