Dwarf skill-advancement, advise requested, +1 AG increases

Post by sirsebstar »

So I started a brand new team, in game 2 I got my first (3) players with skills.
A Trollslayer is an +1 AG or skill
A Blitzer with +1 AG or skill
a runner with +1 AG or skill

Should I take the +1 AG or should I take the skill
And can you give me some advice on how to further develop these (soon to be dead because of the bounty due to having 2 ag 4 dwarfs is beardy) exceptional players?

thanks in anvance

I'd take the +1AG on the Runner and Blitzer but personally don't find AG3 Troll Slayers to be that cost effective.

But I would understand if you took all 3.

I would take Juggernaut, Fend or Mighty Blow on the Troll Slayer.

And if you don't take the AG on the Runner you will regret it for the rest of your life...

I thought about Juggernaut on the TrollSlayer. I just did not like it that much compared to other skills for any other dwarf position(but its good enough for the TS)
Sure its nice to have an anti fend skill, and be able to use frenzy on a both down result vs guys with block. But pro is not in that list, and thats good for just about everything, e.g. blocks, or dauntless rolls.

So I keep thinking, I am going to not choose +1 AG on the trollslayers, but either Juggernaut or pro, and I am leaning towards the last one. There are not that many fenders right now. (although, another AG 3 player is never wrong...sigh)

and well on the runner, yea, ag sounds nice, but then what, KOR and pass?

The blitzer with ag4, well he has move 5, so he is not going very far.
Its tempting, but its just way to .. i dont know..

I would take the AG upgrade for all of them!

For the slayer I might think about the skill but with such few people with AG 3 you might need this options somtimes in a game. On top you try dodges with your slayer without giving him break tackle.

Just my 2 cents.

Definitely the +AG on blitzer & runner.

The troll slayer is the interesting decision. Mighty blow would be a standard starting choice and a good one.

I think I'd take the +AG - just because
1) you have very few players with better than AG2 - so removing the AG3/4 players is going to be a common tactic for your opponents
2) Troll slayers can often end up as one of the furthest players downfield, so for those desperation plays he's a lot more reliable (as well as dodging etc).
3) You'd kick yourself if you rolled another 11 for him!

4) Stat increases are more fun/flavoursome than skills. Never turn them down on principle!

I've a 4 AG blodger blitzer with my dwarf team and he won games for me! The ability to dance around with 4 AG ads a lot of depth to your team.

For the Troll Slayer, I would also take the +AG. Dwarves are loaded with skills and +AG is probably the most efficient skill on a positional player. The idea of a dodging Slayer will force your opponent to respect him more and it's harder to pin him down with a lino.

I played the game against pro-elven. First half I got 3 TD against, SI on my troll slayer, failed my apo, and thats about all the positive news.. no spp's whatsoever for me.
2nd half, killed an player, -av another (retired) and SI a third. scored one (and got to suffer 2 more td)
Especially the last setup was freaky. I called the diceresult nearly perfectly. I called for a riot after setup so I would not be able to kick some more butt (it did), I called my FF to drop (it did) .. wow.

anyways, I think I am going to keep the AG.
Its pricey, but maybe its going to be worth it in the long term.

I would always take the AG+, except on Longbeards. I makes them more mobile, which is something Dwarves have a hard time with. The blizter and runner will have no problem chasing people all over the field. My TS always gets in situations where his AG2 is not quite enough.

Take all the AG, and score like elves.

Troll Slayer do not need Agility..much better to take another skill (mighty blow, juggernaut, Guard, Stand Firm)

Always take +agility on blitzers and runners. Agility 4 is a very good thing to have on a dwarven team!. I once had a blitzer that had agility 5--awesome :)

Take all the +AGs as you'll then be able to do something a bit less boring with the Dwarf team than the normal player does.
