Which Inducements to take?

On Monday, my skaven are playing vs a norse team in our league final. The line-ups (roughly) are:

Careless Whiskers (me)
1 x Gutter Runner - Two Heads, Dodge, Block
1 x Gutter Runner - Big Hand, Strength 3, Dodge
1 x Gutter Runner - Dodge, Block
1 x Gutter Runner - Dodge
1 x S.Vermin - Block
1 x S.Vermin - Block, Guard
1 x Thrower - Sure Hands, Pass (not one measly SPP yet!)
1 x Linerat - Block
1 x Linerat - Kick
1 x Linerat - +1 AV
3 x Linerat

2 x AC
2 x CL

3 x RR

FF:5

1 x Apo

Barney's Norse

Idiot - Frenzy, Claws, MB, Guard, DP
Berserker - Block, Frenzy, Jump Up, MB, Tackle
Berserker - Block, Frenzy, Jump Up, MB, Strip Ball
Ulfwerener - Block, Frenzy
Ulfwerener - Block, Frenzy
Runner - AG4, Block, Dodge, Side-Step, Dauntless
Runner - Block, Dodge, Dauntless
Thrower - Sure Hands, Pass, Leader
Lino - Block, Tackle, Wrestle
Lino - Block, Wrestle
Lino - Block, Kick
3 x Lino - Block

2 x AC
2 x CL
10 FF
4 x RR
1 x Apo

TR - 190

My TR is 147, and I wondering which inducements to take. In addition to this, the league I am playing in have allowed star players in the play off round, so they could be an option too. We are using cards too.

Was thinking about Bloodweiser Babes and Team Training and maybe a bribe, but perhaps Skitter Stab Stab might be handy for getting a few Norse off the pitch or maybe Headsplitter for some extra presence on the LOS?

Star Player Stats -

Hakflem (200k) - loner, dodge, extra arms, two heads, prehensile tail 9/3/4/7

Headsplitter (340k) - loner, frenzy, MB, prehensile tail 6/6/3/8

Skitter (160k) - loner, dodge, prehensile tail, shadowing, stab 9/2/4/7
Cheers

Bloodweiser Babes are always a good choice for AV7 teams.

I would go for Headsplitter instead of the stab guy. He has MB, as far as I remember, which could be the extra punch needed to make a stun a KO (or an injury)

He gave DP to his Snow Troll? :o

you need star plyers that are going to as much damage as possible. I would then have some babes to get my guys back from KO.

or you could have a halfling master cook and some babes.

I am sure you will do the right thing!!!! :o

Good luck in your game. :D

Headsplitter doesnt have a block which can be problem against Norse. Against AV7 I would rather go for Skitter Stab-Stab

With your armor you might need an extra Apothecary....

True, Digger, but both teams are AV7 (with 3 AV8 players).
Headsplitter would be a hefty presence (as stated above), but I would be nervous doing anything with him except keeping him on the line, as his block less state combined with frenzy would not be good for my nerves  He is also quite expensive. Skitter would at least be used to do some stabbing and might just get a player or two off the pitch, and I would have money for a few other bits and bobs.

Still undecided, but will think on...

I think that in this case DP refers to Disturbing Presence (a starting trait for snow trolls), rather than Dirty Player. Although the idea of a great hulking yeti 'subtly' stamping on a prone player's head does raise a geeky smile :)

You might be want to consider a Merc Rat Ogre.
Then you could afford Skitter as well.

Good call, Dave. Had completely overlooked the merc option.

First, I try to avoid Star Players. They have Loner, which is a problem. If you want them for bashing, well they ususally don't have block. Problem when combined with Loner. For moving the ball, they may steal your SPPs. Not good either. And handling the ball with Loner is something I try to avoid as well.

It might be just that with my Goblin team, when I hire a star, he often ends-up getting the MVP and getting most of the CAS SPPs ...

You have 400k in inducements, right?

Wizard: 150k
Babe: 50k
RR: 100k
Bribe: 100k

RR and Babe have obvious usages.
Wizard: Have used him a few times now, and really like him. Still unsure what the best strategy is for him. Against Norse, I would consider waiting for your opponent to cage-up such that you hit at least 5 players (more if possible) including the Thrower and the Snow Troll ideally, and Fire Ball them. Another option would be to zap ball carrier with Lightning bolt. Make sure you have your GRs positioned such that you can use the Big Hand guy to go pick-up the ball and give it to another GR who can score (or get out of reach).
Bribe: AV7 and block. Block means that they are hard to take down. AV7 means easier armor breaks. If a Norse is down, use a linerat to foul (ideally with assists). If you end-up outnumbering your opponent, then you're doing pretty darn good. Foul every turn until you have to use the Bribe to keep your player on the pitch.

BTW, consider a strip ball, wrestle/block, dodge GR. Forces your opponent to use the Sure Hands player to carry the ball. And if you can get rid of him, then you have 1/2 die blocks with a reroll to make your opponent drop the ball. Then the Big Hand guy comes-in and grabs the ball (leap is good on both guys). If you used wrestle, you really want to score that turn, as your opponent will likely foul your GR.

Thanks for the advice, Cramy. That is another way to go for me and I'm definitely considering it (along with the other ideas here :) ). Re:SPP stealing and skilling up, these are not really issues for Monday's game as it is the final of the whole league.

I think i'd prefer the Merc Rogre for 180k, rather than Headsplitter for the 340k. If you're unhappy about actually blocking with a blockless player, his WA shouldn't matter if you keep him on the line.

Personally i'd definitley take a wizard-gives you a good chance of busting his cage and getting the turnover score, at least 1 BB Babe (imo the best value inducement) and then either the merc Rogre for LOS presence or Skitter to try and take out his Blodgers. I'd probably pump for Skitter though as i'd be worried that his Snow Troll would take out the Rogre too quickly and Skitter's loner won't be a problem for dodging, or his stabs, which is probably all you'll want to do with him.

Agree with all: Wizard is great against cagey folk.
Never pay the big bucks for headsplitter!! A merc is WAY better bang for your buck.

I would seriously consider taking skitter stab stab. The shadowing, with huge MV value, combined with norse average movement of 6 (i think).
..and on top of all that, he can stab up a berserker without using blocking dice........sweet

One Merc Rat Ogre. He already has loner so that wouldnt make a difference. Either to stengthen the line (also help with chain pushes for extra blocks) or for collapsing the pocket ( even if you dont get the ball carrier, leaving him in the TZ with P.Tail is bound to cause problems), & an additional Thrower with Leader ( with two good standard skills that wont use a ReRoll) & an unused Leader Reroll can be used if the game gets taken into O/T.

Or Skitter, 1 Merc R.Ogre as Dave suggested & take a BW Babe with the rest of the cash.

Or one Merc Rat Ogre with a skill (Jug or B.Tackle) for cage breaking & the wizard with Fireball spell for when he bunches up.

If only you hadnt gone for the extra AV on your Lineman, when he Skilled up after your last game. You could of taken Dirty player. That combined with 2/3 bribes for him to stay on the field. Could have really brought the hurt. Leaving you money for two sets of BW Babes & a poss extra ReRoll depending on wich way you went with the bribes.) Never mind.

Anyway what you worried about??? Barneys totally flat after the humbling I gave him. Its yours for the taking. Dont Fook it up! :D
