Doubles Skill for Gobbo with Catch

Post by Warpstone »

Title says it all. Wonder of wonders has led to my gobbo with Catch thriving (and surviving) long enough to earn a second skill, and it's a doubles roll!

What do you give him?

Block? Nerves of Steel? Hail Mary Pass? Anything else?

Block, with catch you're going to be sending him up into the more dangerous part of the pitch to recieve hand offs. Second doubles I'd grab nerves of steel but Block is just too good to pass up on the first doubles.

Is he on a goblin team or an orc team?

On an orc team, I'd be tempted to go NoS, but on a goblin team it's block all the way.

What Jural said: NoS on an Orc team, Block on a Goblin team.

What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Good point, Jural, Orcs can protect the little gob better than other gobs....

Wrestle anyday! F*** Catch, when you rolled a double catch mathers less.

Walking into cages just to wrestle down the ballcarrier.

Just wrestle down that big bad superstar without tackle.

Wrestle is to good to be true on a goblin.

Or strip ball for similar ball wining effect. Will be a very short lived goblin though.

Both are among the plethora of good doubles choices on a Goblin team. On an Orc team, you have Orcs to do that stuff; the Goblin is a bit-player for when you need to score in 2-4 turns.

Goblin on Orc team... Pro (for landing rolls alone - helps all round)

You often go the desperate TTM Plays at the end of the half, when all your RRs are spent

Gob on Gob Team... Pass Block

Pass Block + Stunty should never be underestimated! I had a Pass Block/Catch Snotling and he lived forever! Tied for most career Interceptions (in our preseason) with a Wood elf catcher!

Gob on a Underworld team... Mighty Blow!

Get horns next and have some fun!

What's wrong with dirty player? Its the goblin's preferred skill :) If he lives long enough Sneaky Git :) :)

Block would be my preference since he's already got catch so you can use him as more of a ball carrier/receiver.

Without catch I'd take strip ball or wrestle for the reasons others have given.

... then take Wrestle to be sure that the opponent goes down before the fouling begins

He already has catch, so Block. I'm assuming a Gobbo team here.

On a Gobbo without skills or with other skills:

Dirty Player, followed by Sneaky Git.

Wreste and Strip Ball would be amazing, but needs two doubles. I'd get wrestle first.

Sure Hands is also a good choice.

My all time perferred combo: Block, Side Step, Diving Tackle. Yeah, that's three skills, but what fun it is to have a couple of these dudes.

Of course, if you want to give you opponent a hernia at key points of the game, hail mary pass.

Nothing like watching his face when firing the ball all the way upfield (hopefully to a gobbo or two). Works especially well against dwarves.

On the other hand, do it a couple of times and then the gobbo has just painted a target on his head, which doesn't help him live that long...

If he didn't have catch so far I'd be tempted for dirty player.

But Block is always a good choice which I would prefer then.
