Managing Spiralling Expenses?

Salutations Readers,
Since I could not find another topic about it thought I was gather peoples thoughts on what is the best Team Value to have to keep control of your Expenses and still be able to replace players who die?
Since Winnings are only 10-90 KGP a match I thought keeping TV about 220-230 (40k Expenses) means you should be able to break even most games and a death, +2 Fame or a MNG allow you to gain a little income and hire new blood.
So what would our Mythical team have?
13 Players, 4 Rerolls, an Apo, FF 10, 40 Skills and a couple of Stat Increases puts most races about 225 TV
It does mean you will have to be harsh and replace Linesmen who are going to become Star players with Rookies to keep a lid on TV, but if your reserve is only going to see play for a couple of turns in the second half is it worth keeping that 100k+ benchwarmer?

It's a dilemma. Some teams have it harder than others.
Here are some of my higher TV teams
Orc Team TV 227 (RR:5, FF:8, AC:2, Apo) Cash: 40K
Played 44 games
Blitzer: ST4, Juggernaut, Frenzy 39 spp
Blitzer: Tackle, Mighty Blow, Guard 45 spp
Blitzer: Mighty Blow, Guard 30 spp
Blitzer: Guard (MA5) 12 spp
Black Orc Blocker: Block, Guard (AG1, Niggling) 30 spp
Black Orc Blocker: Block, Mighty Blow, Frenzy, Stand Firm 71 spp
Black Orc Blocker: Block, Guard 19 spp
Goblin: Diving Tackle, Sneaky Git 20 spp
Thrower: MA6, Block, Dodge 48 spp
Lineorc: Wrestle, Fend, Dirty Player (AG2) 36 spp
Lineorc: Block, Kick, Dirty Player 46 spp
Lineorc: Block, Fend, Tackle 32 spp
Lineorc: Block, Diving Tackle, Side Step 35 spp
Lineorc: (AG2) 0 spp
Troll: Guard, Stand Firm (AV8) 26 spp
Last match one black orc blocker died from a throwing rock! Just used my apo on ST4 blitzer to save him from death. One lineorc is miss next game and I hope I will get 40K to get a new Black Orc. Even if I kick some players, it will still have to many "good" lineorcs with 3 skills each!!! The lineorcs have survived and alot of blitzers have been kicked or dead. But the team works!
Skaven Team TV 237 (RR:5, FF:8, Apo) Cash: 100K
Played 44 games
This team have some serious problems! Only 6 players that don't suffers from injuries!
Blitzer: AV9, Guard, Mighty Blow, Grab, Stand Firm 94 spp
Blitzer: AV9, AG4, Guard, Mighty Blow (MA6) 61 spp
Gutter Runner: Block, Nerves of Steel, Side Step, Pass Block 60 spp
Gutter Runner: Sprint, Sure Feet, Block (MA9, was MA10) 70 spp
Gutter Runner: ST3, Block, Fend, Tackle, Strip Ball (Niggling) 84 spp
Gutter Runner: AG5, Dodge, Accurate, Block, Safe Throw, Leap 106 spp
Thrower: Block, Kick (Niggling) 26 spp
Thrower: Wrestle, Leader 25 spp
Linerat: (Niggling) 0 spp
Linerat: AG4, Wrestle, Tackle (MA6) 50 spp
Linerat: Wrestle, Frenzy (Niggling) 16 spp
Linerat: Wrestle, Fend 17 spp
Linerat: Wrestle 6 spp
Linerat: (MA6) 0 spp
Linerat: Wrestle (MA6) 6 spp
There is a big diffrence between the teams. Same played matches but the skaven team is battered! There is hope that the MA9 (used to be a one-turner with MA10) gutter runner will get 6 spp and maybe get a 10 on the skill rolled, if not he will probably get sacked. I have to get cash next game, hopefully 20K so I can get a rat ogre, if not I will probably start to get new players and kick the ones with nigglings or lowered MA.
When to kick? I really don't know.
The only team I have to work with low TV is my undead team. Even with block on zombies and skeletons it's cheap. Ghouls and wights splitt the spp on TDs and Comps. Mummies don't do much except bash for spp and they are not rocketing sky high. Have 5 rerolls and that works fine. Undead have a god balance for LRB5 rules.

I have a Pro-Elf team that sits around 2.3M.
Having said that though, my TV has dropped to around $1.7M when I have experienced a particularly nasty bash team.
For the first time last game I got zero for winnings once expenses were applied. Luckily I didnt lose any players.
I have been able to maintain a treasury of around $90K as well, so I think my team is playing well.
I guess TV levels itself out over time. I have played around 25 games with them and they have reached that zone where over time where natural attrition keeps you at a certain TV band.
The issue is that differing races may have differing "bands" of where that balance rests. For Dwarves, it may be alot higher, by for my elves its $2.1 - 2.3M.

The best way is to play low AV teams since half your TV will be missing half the matches

Just don't get too many re-rolls. At high TV you won't need so many and they will never miss a match to temporarily reduce your TV.

I have to agree that most teams plateau.
I have been doing pretty well with my Chaos in our current league and they are at 2.21M (LRB5) in team value. The thing is, I have My minotaur at 68 SPPs, One beastman at 64, one beastman at 3 SPPs (couldn't get points on him to save my life), 7 players between 30 and 40 SPPs, and 2 beastmen at 52/53 SPPs.
Now the Mino will probably get his next skill soon as he is kitted out with Claws, Block, Juggernaught and Multiple Block and I am working on the one beastman, but honestly, unless I roll spectacularly for fan factor (currently 12) I'm only going to go up to about 2.3M and staying h there for some time.
Thankfully, I didn't really lose too many players and have a good bit of cash banked, so I can live for awhile in the spiraling regime for some time.
In answer to your original question, I have one extra body who's continued usefulness on the team depends greatly on how he rolls for his first two skills. Other than that, I have kept it to 12 players and have no intention of growing beyond that as it is simply a waste.
