gutter runner +ST - what next?

Post by Halskov1 »

I'm coaching the following skaven team:

1 GR 9347 dodge +ST
2 GR 10247 dodge, +MV, sprint
3 GR 925 7 dodge +AG
4 GR 9247 dodge, block

5 Storm Vermin 7348 block, +AG
6 Storm Vermin 7338 block

7 Linerat 7337 Kick
8 Linerat 7337 Guard (dbl)
9 Linerat 7337
10 Linerat 7337
11 Linerat 7337
12 Linerat 7337
13 Linerat 6337 -MV
14 Linerat 7337 Nig

RR: 4 FF: 3 Bank: 40.000 Apo: yes

I have played 4 out-of-league training matches. The team has scored a ton of TDs won three matches and had one frustrating loss to a developed Nurgle team. Now it will join a short league and probably retire after having played 6-8 more matches all in all. At the moment I don't know what teams I will face.

My question is how do I further develop this team? Especially the +ST GR.

I feel I need a dedicated ball retriever, which all the stat increases have prevented me from creating (though I certainly know better than to complain). I'm pretty good at getting at the ball before it is caged, but the rats have a very hard time breaking a solid cage once formed.

Notice that the lifespan of the team is not infinite, so I have to be thinking fairly short term.

After last game I had 90.000 gold and decided to buy a linerat instead of a thrower. My reasoning that I want money to replace a GR or Storm Vermin if needed, and I don't really want to use a Thrower since with 4 RR I find the GR's are clearly better.
Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for reading.

Give that 3 ST GR strip ball, if he gets another double, give him horns. Same on your storm vermin.

Start giving a lot of your players block. It'll keep them alive longer.

Not knowing what other teams you're playing, hard to say what other skills you should take. If there's lots of agility teams, make sure you take some tackle on a couple of them. Get block and guard on any linemen you can. If you're playing against a lot of bash teams, either buy a rat ogre or get one or two linemen dauntless.

I wouldn't plan anything long-term with him. (The S4 GR) Nuffle will certainly kill him for you in his next game.

It is the fate of his sort..........Now if only Nuffle would get to work on the S4 wardancer in MY league..... :D

Gotta be Block, you need to protect this guy so he can develop into the monster he has the potential to be! GRs are one of few players who could reach 6 skills rolls, and could reach 5 quite easily. Specialise later, protect your investment first.

For me it'd be Wrestle then Tackle/Strip Ball
Doubles = Horns

Yes.

I agree. Though I also might consider strip ball then jump up after wrestle. I've a wood elf catcher with that who rocks.

Get the AG5 GR Strip ball. With AG5 he'll dodge into cages, and odds are that even with ST3 the block will be two die against. Actually, get both the AG5 and ST3 Strip ball next. Then, if they get to more skills, get Wrestle.

Strip ball will help you win games NOW. This makes sense, as you're not playing so many more games anyway.

I'd go with Joe's suggestion of block and then get strip ball after that for your ST 3 GR. Diving into a box and knocking the ball loose on a 1d is fantastic!

Impressive stat line on your GRs by the way :D
