so my necro team

2 Flesh Golems
2 Werewolves
2 Wights
5 Zombies
2 rerols

i've played two games - and got a reasonable spread of SPPs - with one of my werewolves due a skills roll

I have 110,000 in the bank, the main question is should i buy a ghoul or save up for a third reroll???

It'd be nice to have someone i can use as a dedicated runner, but i find the lack of regen scary - also the wights/werewolves have been doing a good enough job standing in as runners

whatcha think people

That's a tough one, but I think you should probably get a ghoul and an extra zombie, then save for a third re-roll, and finally pick up a 4th ghoul.

Personally I'd have started with more re-rolls... having more than 11 players and a runner with dodge is a definate plus though. I'd be torn between the two :)

I also prefer to start with 3 rerolls, but it's a bit late for that.

You're at a risky point, it really depends on whether your luck holds or do you lose any of your positionals in the next couple of matches. This team is like elves in that your positionals (except ghouls) are all expensive, but unlike elves you can't expect your linemen to do anything on offense.

I think the answer depends on your league and the next couple matches.

1) Are all the teams starting out, or are you an underdog in most matches?
2) Is your league more focused on bashy or finesse team?
3) Are your next couple of matches against bashy or finesse teams?

The more bashy your immediate future is, the more you need to add ghouls and start having them run the ball.

Otherwise you may be able to hold out and save for a 3rd reroll, cross your fingers when you roll for regen. Keeping your roster low has the advantage of increasing the odds of getting an MVP on a golem and they need the SPP.

What you want to avoid is being low on cash, and having 3 or fewer agi 3 players to field.

P.S. I hope your golems are getting some SPP, it's the main advantage of taking them early.

I'd save for a Third Re-roll. Then a twelfth player (Zombie). Wouldn't consider buying a Ghoul before.

I'd edge towards the third reroll but it would depend on how long the league had to run.

Re-roll... then ghoul....

If you're not using this nifty set-up: put your FGs in the wide zones, two squares from the edge... then set up a Wight next to each.... This is a great advantage in that your FGs cannot be pushed to the sidelines and they supply a nice, strong assist to the Wights....

Use the Wolves to fetch the ball....

But the ghouls will be appreciated when affordable....

well i have 7 matches left - and i still have to face 2 dwarf teams and possibably a khemri team - we play two teams twice

then theres two human teams , a skaven team and an amazon team

so i'd say its more of a finesse league, where everyone plays 9 matches.

my FG's are at 5 & 4 Spp's each - hopefully they'll pick up a couple of cas's next match - its against the zons :)

i'm thinking that probably the ghoul is the way i wil go - i much prefer to have 3 rerolls, but i'm hoping two rerolls and another ag3 player should keep me competative

Take the ghoul and then save for the reroll.

With that few games I'd get both Ghouls before saving for a reroll.

It's not like I disagree with adding ghouls to a necro team, but this is the issue I've always had with this starting necro team (2 rerolls, 2 golems, no ghouls).

If he buys 2 ghouls now, which should be possible after 1 more game, it'll take at least 4 games to save enough for a reroll. During that four games he'll still only have 2 rerolls. Also he's limited on zombies, normally during defense you can leave the ghouls off the field, but after a couple drives this team will likely need to field ghouls on defense to stay at 11 men.

The problem I've seen is that after he buys the ghouls, sometime over the next 4 games somebody dies or needs to be retired (playing ghouls on defense increases this risk). The replacement costs push the 3rd reroll back further and further. This team line up tends to need more luck in regards to regen rolls, and injury rolls to get off to a strong start. A more bashy league, or bad luck, can make this a real nightmare.

Keeping all 8 positionals going on a necro team while also being able to save for rerolls has always been a challenge to me. I tend to see people take a couple of approaches to this problem:

1) avoid golems, saves alot of money, keeps team value much lower
2) avoid ghouls, since they have no regen

Either save for the re-roll or dont plan on getting it at all.

i should say that those 7 games constitute the rest of the season - after which we will be starting a new season with the same teams, the only difference is that there will have been teams promote and relegated so the divisional spread will be different

No matter what, I'd pick up the ghoul and zombie now, and hope to save for the third re-roll ASAP. But frankly, with such fragile wolves and only 11 players, you need the depth right away, or the wolves will take a pounding.

Remember, one lost wolf and the season is wasted! So over 7 games I'd save for the extra re-roll and hope to get some deaths on the other team (free zombies, yay!)

On reflection I'd go for the re-roll. Since you're thinking long term and I find it much easier to buy new players than new re-rolls. Re-rolls cant die and you can always spend inducements on a star or something.
